Hi:
I recently purchased a BX1500 with 150 hrs. I just mounted the 48"mmm and noted that the three point hitch control valve controls the position of the deck. Unfortunately, the three point hitch raises and lowers with the deck.

My question is this: Is there any way to separate the function so the deck will raise and lower independantly of the three point hitch? I tow a grass collection system with an independant pony motor that attaches the three point hitch. The way it operates, lowering the hitch will be a problem.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You would have to pin the tree point arms to the dead men up top so they will not move with the mower and just stay in the up position.

I had a similar question. Generally when I mow I remove the loader and rear implements. I also have a lawn tractor I currently do most of my mowing with just so I don't have to change implements. However, there are times where I want to push over some scrub brush with the FEL and then mow. This is at the foot of a hill, so I want to keep my rear blade on for ballast (and/or just don't feel like removing it - need a quick hitch, I know). Can the dead men handle the weight of a rear blade (~260#)? I got the impression from the manual that the 3pt hitch should be empty when pinned. Not even sure I could raise the blade to pin the lifting rods...

The 3 PH and deck lift are the same cylinder and mechanism in the trans. If you pin up the 3 PH the deck will stay as well.

Greg, You will have to turn the three point hitch lowering speed knob. Left is faster and right is slower or off, Just like a water faucet. Once stopped the valve will only run the mower lift.;)

I use a 3ph cyclone rake to collect clippings and I have found that I still have the need to raise/lower it slightly when collecting clippings.
Pinning the lift links wasn't an option because of this.
What I've done is utilize "check chains" to maintain the absolute lowest level the 3ph/cyclone rake will drop but still allow for both the MMM & 3ph to raise when necessary.

Volfandt has the correct solution to the problem. But if you do not want the TPH comming up when you raise the MMM all the way up, use the 'check chains' to hold the hitch up and remove the lift links. If your afraid of the TPH raising on it's own (like a trailer pushing you or having a negitive tounge weight) just add a 'check chain' down to the fixed drawbar.
