BX2200
Unfortunately, I purchased a set of turf tires from a bx1500 off of ebay last night. This is unfortunate due to the fact that after I placed my bid I did the research and discovered the 1500 has smaller tires front and rear. The question is, will I be able to run the tires on my 2200 or will I be dragging on the ground /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif From all of the reading I have done on this list I thought the 1500 was the same tractor minus the hp. This has been a painful learning experience.

You should not use smaller (or bigger) tires on your machine, especially with 4wd. It's not a ground clearance thing...it has to do with how the transmission and drive train work together.

I agree, but if they are all one inch smaller I'd suspect the drivetrain would be fine?

It's really a question of ratios: if your rear tires differ in radius (not diameter) by 10 percent, your front tires also must differ in radius by 10 percent. Otherwise the center differential works more than it should, and should you lock the center diff (as I often do) the ground will be torn up more.

I agree that it is a matter of ratio, however, since they are designed for the same tractor, the BX series, the relationship ratio would be the same for the 1500 and the 2200. The problem would come into play if you were to use the original 2200 tires in the front and the 1500 tires in the rear. As long as you use the 1500 tires as a matched set of 4, I can't see any problems arising other than the ground clearance. Even then, I doubt that the ground clearance will be effected by much more than 1/2" - 3/4".

Thanks, I appreciate the comments on this. It looks like I can get a new set of tires and rims for about 300 bucks. This is about 100 bucks more than the tires I bid on. I guess the only outstanding question if I were to stick with the smaller tires is the bolt pattern on the rims? Any comments? Thanks again.

I suggest that you send an Email to Kubota and pose the questions. From my experience they usually respond in a day or two.

I can't say for certain, but it is rare that a manufacturer changes the bolt pattern on a specific series from one model to the next. The bolt pattern that is used is quite universal in use for the size of the tires.

Sounds about right. Just make sure that you get them ordered & shipped as "whole goods" rather than as parts. It'll take longer to get 'em but you'll save a BUNDLE.

Sounds like a new BX mod, turning it into a LOW RIDER ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Maybe you can change out the steering wheel for one of those made of chrome chain links and put some tassels on your rops!
