I pulled a dumb one last night rushing to do the 50 hr tranny fluid and filter change last night on my BX1500. In haste, I took off the bottom bolt near the filter that looks like a plug. Of course, along with it came down the washer, spring and a small silver ball bearing. I put the ball bearing back in first, then the spring, washer and bolt. Before I use the tractor again I want to make sure I put it back in the correct order(spring and ball). Anyone have any reassurance or comments out there. I would appreciate it.

I think you have it right. Look at the attachment. I am guessing you are talking about items 100, 110, 120, and 130.
Hope this helps.

Here is a link that should take you to the parts list for the 2200. I am not sure but if you substitute 1800 for 2200 you might get the manual you need. This link was supplied by tractorsmart and is really great at looking up how things go together. The torque values for assembly are probably covered in the shop manual.
best of luck

Thanks Dave and Sandy. I called the dealer shop and they looked up the drawing and it said spring first, then ball, seat and bolt so I reversed the spring and ball last night. The hydraulics worked both ways so hopefully it was no big deal. Seems like a pressure check valve type of thing. You can see the spring when you take the tranny fluid filter off.

You had it right the first time as you can see from the exploded parts diagram. The spring holds the check ball against the oil by-pass passage seat. This is to allow oil flow past the filter if it becomes plugged.

Sandyc,
Thanks for the link. Already downloaded in their own folder, soon to be on cd. A great resource.
