OK, I made my best price on a BX1800 with 54" mower for $9,300.00 w/o tax. (Central Virginia). Also got a price on Woods 5' rear blade $330.00 and a J-Bar box scraper $329.00. I think its a good price. The bank says "fax us the buyer's order-we'll cover you", the dealer says "say the word we'll have one on the next truck outta Georgia" Whats the consensus of the group?

And another question, should I go with the rear blade or box? This will be used for touching up a both a crush and run driveway that is hard packed and gravel driveways; leveling high spots in yard; snow removal; and I'd like to cut down a bank at the road, and install another driveway, tho I'm not sure how to tackle that one yet.

That will be a project once the FEL gets here at tax time. I'm kinda leaning towards the box since it'll give me more ballast for the FEL. The dealer thinks that ballast will be about equal since the rear blade is further from the tractor. He said NO tractor gets out of there without fluid in tires.

As always, thanks for your time and input,
Doug

Doug,

I've had my BX1800 for about a month now. That price to me seems high. Did the dealer mention anything about a rebate? I paid $7950 for the BX1800 w/ 54"MMM after the $300 rebate.

I opted for the rear blade as opposed to the BB for now. It's the same Woods model your looking at. Nicely built. I also picked up a Wood GTO40 tiller, again, a nice unit.

There's been alot of discussion lately about the BX2200 vs. BX1800 and prices.. If my dealer had quoted me $9300 for the BX1800, I would have gotten the BX2200, which was quoted to me $9600, no brainer.

My dealer let me try both units out before I decided. He had some dirt piles and grass that I played with. Quite frankly, I couldn't tell the difference. Both moved dirt and cut grass the same. Both carried the same load in the FEL. The most limiting feature, which I've been told is quite common, is traction. I lost traction w/ either tractor if I took to big a bite.

Prices, prices , Prices.... forever confusing.......

For a gauge, I paid 12,800. for BX2200..... 60MMM.... FEL....

But then, My Daddy never taught me his passion of how to deal. Tom

Thanks for the input. I had a quote from another local dealer that was $100.00 lower, and another that was $300.00 higher. I had a better feeling with this dealer than the other 2. I don't think there are any other dealers within a reasonable driving distance, and I think delivery would eat up any "good price" I would get.
Thanks again,
Doug

One other thing..... Think about getting the 2200..... I just wonder that with the rebate on the 1800 if Kubota isn't going to drop the 1800. Not that there is anything wrong with it but because everybody is buying the 2200.... I have a friend that bought a 1800 last year and traded it at a big loss to get the 2200 because he needed the more power. Just a thought. With me it was only 300.00 dif in the price.. Good luck in whatever you get.... They are great machines. Tom

Thanks for thoughts, Hoosier. I don't think i'll ever see the difference in power for my use. I live on an acre that's mostly lawn and about 10% overgrown brush. The only reason I see to spend the extra money would be to get the tractor sooner from the dealer since the 2200 is in stock. And I'm really fighting the urge on that one! I still want an FEL, and that will come when taxes get here next year.

For your uses I would probably go with the 1800 also. I went with the 2200, but only because it was $300 additional. If the rebate had been in place I probably would have gone for the 1800, and got a rear blade with the extra.

By the way, the dealer I went through also had some 2200's on the lot, and no 1800. He had to get some other parts for me from the main distribution and that took 1 week (Mulching kit, turf tires). He told me that if I wanted the 1800 it also would only take 1 week to get in and prep - they can get these machines in pretty quick!

Thats my plan. For the same money I'm getting a tractor with 2 implements (mower and blade), albeit a tad less power that I may or may not notice.
Thanks,
Doug
