Bx1850 dash went haywire

Just bought a new to me x1850 with a mower deck 130 hours . I was mowing today and stopped to move something . I disengaged the pto and was getting off the tractor just as the blades were slowing . The tractor sputtered for a second then kicked back on . When I got back on after moving the object and re-engaged the pto the dash was going haywire . The fuel gauge and the temperature gauge was moving back and forth and the digital part was flashing 1850 then it would read rpm and flash back .

I am guessing it threw off the dash when the tractor kicked off and on . What do you guys think ?

Did you turn off the engine and start it back up? If so is the dash still going haywire?

Yeah I forgot to mention that . I turned off the tractor and restarted it and the dash was fine . I am thinking it was acting up because I got off at just the right moment when the blades were not fully stopped and the tractor started to kick off then kicked back on .

I noticed the same thing happens when you initially start the tractor . The gauges drop and the tractor reads 1850 then the gauges go to their normal position and the digital reads rpm .

I would find and check the grounds for the dash wiring. Had a similar experience loosing the dash readouts on my 3130. Found bad ground from the dash wiring attached to the tranny. My dash has two grounds and both have to work. Wire was cut and frayed. Replacing the wire end and cleaning, reattaching worked wonders! My next step would have been a new dash unit at $4xx.00!

Kubota BX tractors are known to have ign. switch problems. If it sets outside it makes it worse. I am not saying that is your problem but is some thing to remember.
