So I'm getting ready for my 50 hour service already! And was reading again through the long post on doing this.

I double checked my manual and it does not call for a fluid change, and it doesn't call for a filter screen cleaning either. Just oil/filter change, and hydro filter change (and a few other small things). There's no "O" in the column for the filter cleaning.

I do plan on asking my dealer when I'm in next. But just curious if those that are cleaning this screen if it says to in the manual, or if you're just doing it because it's a good idea?

Besides, I already bought my rubber cork for the job! lol

We do it because it is indeed, a good thing to do. Some report almost nothing, while others report a ton 'o shavings. YMMV.

Why would you not? It is simple and easy to do. I checked mine at 30 hours and again at 50. Nothing either time. I'm done checking for awhile. :D

I did it on my BX25 because the manual said to. I found nothing on it.

I would recommend doing it anyway since you have the necessary items. It may give you a timeframe if a problem occurs in the future. If nothing shows up during the 50 hour check, but the 200 hour check shows debris, at least you'll have an idea of when the change occured.

I just did the 300 hours on my BX and my book called for HST fluid change at 50 hours, but not cleaning the screen. At 300 hours I changed the fluid again and also cleaned the screen. There wasn't much on it, but what was on it was pretty good sized shards of metal. They could have been there since the 50 hour service, who knows. I'd probably go ahead and do it since you have the stuff, it will probably take about 15 minutes.

That's what's funny... it doesn't say to check/clean it until 400 hours when I change the HST fluid.

5 gallons of SUDT and filter is 120 Bucks ....... I'll change it all at 50 hrs.
You know , only a few years back we all did oil/filter at 50 and engine oil/filter
at 50 for new machines . I think that's still sensible. JD are 8 hours on
new engines ( Kawasaki ) for oil/filter and were 50hrs on new hydro-pumps.
This is a ten Grand machine , and maintenance costs peanuts compared
to purchase price.

I changed everything at 50hrs on mine too. The expense of the fluids just isn't worth the risk.

Will do the same with the RTV1100...It has an extended hydro fluid change too, this will get done at 50.

Early morning musings.

If our tractors had something like 8-10 gallons of SUDT in the HST, and Kubota didn't call for a fluid drop until 300 hours, filters only, I wonder how quick we'd be, at only 50 hours, to spend $300 or $400?
