Is anyone using the Kubota Front Blade / quick hitch attachment system on the BX. How does it do for snow removal? From what I have read many seem to use a rear blade for the snow however the thought of driving in reverse does not thrill me.

Thanks,

I’m 58 and completely agree with you about driving in reverse. If I had a read blade, I’d probably drive over the snow and use it going forward. My bigger concern was the cost of the front blade compared to the front end loaded and I decided to get the loaded. I don’t have much experience with snow here in South Central PA though..

I have the front blade set up for my BX. Works great. Used it all winter pushing 18" and 24" storms here in Mass. Does not come with height adjustment pads. They have to be ordered seperately. I believe the cost was around 1,300 for the blade and front hitch and 100 for the pads. A lot of money to clean your driveway but whats a toy without some add ons.

Rag, I am very close to my BX purchase however the Snow removal attachment has perplexed me for some time. A lot of users say go with a rear blade. I guess the rational is to drive forward for 6" or less and reverse blade for anything over. If the pile got to unmanageable you have the FEL to move it. I live on the coast in CT and anything over 12~15" is few and far between. I would think plowing with a front blade would be easier to handle the snow not to mention the tractor. You failed to mention if you are using the Manual Blade or the "new" Hydraulic one Kubota came out with. This model allows you to angle the blade as well? Is the quick attachment mechanism easy to put on and off? Can you us the blade for grading?Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

i have a b2400, live in buffalo ny area(u can imagine the snow) i have fel with rear blade, drive forward over snow when it is light or use fel on heavy snow and clean up with back blade.my personal opinion is that this is the best for me. don't like haveing to be without the fel, also do not like driving backwards, too darn old for that.

Mondej, I have the new hydraulic system. I did not want to move the blade manually so I waited until my dealer got the new system in. I really like the way it works. I did not plan on using the fel for moving snow so I never thought about getting a blade for the back. The hydraulic control arm that comes with the fel has to be removed from the fel frame and mounted on the tractor; that controls the blade. The front hitch has a couple of pins that hold it on the tractor frame along with a couple of "T" bolts to tighten. Once you figure out how it mounts it can be done in 10 min. or less. The hardest part was matching up the hydraulic lines. This spring I removed the two pads and back dragged my driveway (stone dust driveway) to put it back together. Worked out great.
