I am planning on installing six bluestone steps and will need to lift them into place. They weigh about 540 lbs and I was wondering if I can lift them if I add pallet forks. I have the manual and it shows the lifting values but I don't know which one refers to what I will be doing.

Any help you can offer?

Thanks,

Brian

The specs on your tractor show the front loader only rated to lift 460 pounds Max capacity to full height but that weight is taken at the pins not at the tip of the bucket which is where u would be installing forks. Granted if you're not lifting it to full height may have a little more capacity but the farther out you go the more capacity you lose in a hurry also you have to take into consideration the weight of the forks so no I don't think you have the rated capacity needed to safely do the job according to to the manufacturers specification. The breakout force listed as like 850 pounds so you may be able to barely lift them and skid them along Tractor will probably carry most of the weight. It will be very unstable unsafe and a high risk of breaking something on your tractor.

As long as the load is close to the loader you should be fine.

How high are you lifting them? If its not real high, get a set of rear forks on the 3pt. The 3pt can handle that weight.

If your looking at the forks that hang from the bucket, I don't think you'll be able to lift that much weight since it sits out further due to the bucket. But if you get a set that replaces the bucket, you lose the weight of the bucket and move the weight closer in which helps the leverage.

Either way if they work or not, you'll find other uses for the forks. I use mine quite a bit.

I had a BX24. I lifted a 425 lb snowmobile on the forks, it lifted laboriously, a little,,,, stalling at 2 feet high. Your steps at 540lbs are 25% heavier (than 425lbs) I don't think it will lift them.
