BX2200/60\"MMM

I have had this mower for over a year now. I love this BOTA!
After I am finished mowing however, it looks as if I have some white spots in the bermuda. I have taken the rig back to the dealer twice. The mechanic has diligently measured and adjusted to try to get it level. He takes a bolt with a nut on it, turns the outside blades to the forward position and measures one side against the other from the position of the nut on the bolt. Nothing in the manual about this but seems like a great way to do it. He measures it at the 2" setting. I also regularly check air pressure.
Still have the spots in my yard..........and really trying to keep a good yard. I am mowing @ 2", have the anti-scalp rollers properly set. I am beginning to think I am mowing too low. In that there are features in the yard that cause the lower mowing.
Any input would be appreciated. I know you guys are using the heck out of these things so someone has dealt with this.

Thanks

If you consider the distance across the deck, then 2" does not give much to get over uneven ground. Try the 2.5" setting.

Hootie,I agree with Kevin,I have never mowed Bermuda, maybe it needs to be cut short,I don't know.

I have mowed a world of Bluegrass and Turf Fescue, and it needs to mowed tall,I have all of our decks set at 4 inches,in the BX's case,as high as it will adjust too.

Mowing taller leaves the lawn more lush, also helps to keep the weeds under control,as the ground stays more shaded...But that is just my opinion /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I started at 2.5 with my 60 inch MMM and gradually worked to 3.5 which seems to be the best for my lawn (bluegrass, fescue & weeds). My property is on a hillside with many angulations. I continue to be impressed with the quality of cut of the 60 inch deck

Yea, I'm at 3 1/2" here in SE PA, too. It looks healthy and does well even when the rain is limited.

My father always used to set the mower down low--he claimed it didn't need to be mowed as often and wouldn't hear my arguements. But then again, I was just a teenager at the time...yet being a very **** person even at that young age, scalped ground just wasn't attractive to me!<G>

JWE, Interestingly enough, that is what I did on my lawn. The composition is the same as yours (fescue, bluegrass, and weeds). I started at 2.5" and am now mowing at 3.0" and have a much plusher lawn.

Been mowing at 3" since I got the BX2200 2 years ago. (Blue, fescue and weeds). It always looks good and is plush and green, no scalps here!

I have also noticed some lighter streaks in my yard and it appears to be the width of the tires. I don't know why but I figured the front tires mash the grass down just before it's cut and changes the cut angle of the grass or something.

Re: BX2200/60\"MMM

This year even before I got my BX2200, I started cutting higher. The bx is set for 3" and I also think the result is better than it used to be. Short weeds with some grass mixed in here... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I used to cut it real short...no more! I think when mowing I can see tire tracks but they soon disappear.

Re: BX2200/60\"MMM

Hello,

I must be the odd one because I am located in Southeastern Ohio and mow my grass on 1 1/2 or 2 inches. I can't keep up with the mowing because of all the rain. Actually, even when we had our week with no rain, my lawn was still plush and green with my mowing it to 1 1/2 inches. It still needed cut every 3-4 days and piles blew out the discharge shute. I tried cutting on 3 inches, but nothing cut and it looked terrible just being mashed down with the tires.
