I have a question, when I have a load in my 211 FEL on my BX2200 and I am on uneven ground I always feel like the tractor is tipping to the right. So the other day I filled the FEL with dirt and rocks and lifted it about 3 feet into the air (not too high) and went to the rear of the tractor and tried to pick up the back left tire and it was like I was lifting 10lbs. Then I tried the right rear tire and I could hardly pick the thing up. It seems like it is pivoting on the front axle a little too easy, and to the right. Has anyone else had this problem?

Basic physics there, Danny. Keep in mind that the weight distribution is towards the front where the engine is. Add the fel and a load, extend it out 36 inches or so and you've created an orange 4 wheel drive see-saw. Now lift it to three feet and you've really increased the off balance situation. You've got to counter balance the back of the tractor with something of equilivant weight to try to maintain as near as a 50/50 distribution as you can. I personally wouldn't use my fel to move anything without at least the box scraper on the back. And I wouldn't transport the load at much more than a few inches off the ground. And when dumping in an off-camber situation, put the fel to the ground and lift and dump at the same time barely raising the rolled bucket off the ground to reduce the chance of a nose dive.

Do you have any rear ballast, such as filled tires or an implement? It doesn't sound like it...

If you don't suggest you at least fill your tires. Your Operators Manual probably suggests that.

Man! I forgot about that. My box scraper was not attached when this was happening. Thanks, I am still a rookie at this tractor stuff. Only 35 hours on a tractor, period. I am learning that safety is a big issue when you have a 2300# toy.

Danny, is it possible that the dealer filled one of your tires and not the other? Some dealers fill tires out of habit when a loader is part of the deal. Maybe the tech did one side and got distracted, lunch time, quitting time, coffee break, it happens. Get your valve stems close to the ground and open each one for a second with a screwdriver, see if you get fluid out of one of them.

Also, I had a similiar problem two weeks ago. I almost tipped mine when lifting with the FEL and a chain. My tractor tipped to the right because the load was off-center to the right.

A lot fo these compacts are relatively narrow too. If you are seeing an occasional sideways tipping/leaning, you may want to consider widening the rear wheels if so equipped. Definitely will help on the off-camber stuff too. I know I will be doing that to my 7360 as soon as I get a chance.

Don't ever loose the "rookie" mindset. Call it whatever you want...slight fear or respect. But you have to look always ahead. Many an accident has happened when you get "experienced"...too confident, comfortable and then forgetful(ok, dumb). They've happened to me, luckily never anything serious. By the way...have fun.

Dave,

I agree with you totally, except in my neck of the woods, we explain it by saying the individual was guilty of <font color=red>"Operator head space and timing."</font color=red>
