I have the option to obtain a woods 72" backblade at no cost (used of course). I don't have the exact model number but was wondering if anyone has one of these that they are using or have tried and could tell me how it works / worked out with this tractor. I can see how it would be too wide to make a complete 180 degree rotation without removing it from the tractor. I don't have a problem cutting it down if it is just too much to handle. I would mainly be using for moving snow. Can you give me an idea of how much clearance it would have in the raised position between the ground and the blade. Any help is appreciated.
I had a 5 footer that wouldn't turn because the blade was about 14 inches high and it hit the lift arms. I traded mine for a woods rbc60 which is designed for subcompacts. It has al 11.5 inch high plow. You could shorten it and bevel the corners as someone suggested to me and it will likely work. The problem I had with modifying a big one is the geometry is still not very good. In general ( I am not an expert) the dealer told me the lift arms on the 3point should be as near to parallel with the implement frame as possible. If the Woods is full size this is nearly impossible to achieve with out constructing a custom top link that is shorter than the one that comes with the BX2200. I set my bigger one up with a chain to see how it would work and it needed to be about 11 inches to get the arms lined up. The blade would rotate at that set up when raised as high as possible(it is pointed down in front now so the ground is the limiting clearance. Also when it is on the ground ready to use in this configuration the blade is tipped way forward. so after rotating you would need to lengthen out top link again.
For me the better solution was investing in the blade desgined for sub compacts. I would take the free blade and put it on . you can see from messing with the set up what you need to do to make it work. If it is decent shape and you don't want to do all the mods you could sell it and invest in a smaller version. Good luck!
