I'm ordering a BX2200 for spring delivery. I'm considering the PTO-run bagger, which is an adaptation of the excellent bagger I had on my TG1860. Some questions:

1. Kubota recommends the front weight bracket with 2-3 weights if you operate on hills, which I plan to do. Has anyone tried using it without the bracket? What are the consequences?

2. Does the bagger cut down your ground or side clearance? Does the weight bracket make it harder to get in tight spots by fence corners?

3. Can you use both the weight bracket and the grill guard?

Thanks, Tom Marincic

Oh, yeah...

4. What is a "quick disconnect" for a 3-point hitch?

5. What is the difference between the "regular" and "heavy-duty" deck boot?

Thanks. Tom

TR250, why not register and join in?
Ok, I give it a whirl bagger Vance--why bag at all? but if you insist it is likely some front weight will be needed. I imagine the front grill guard can be modified easily enough to accept weights.
Have no idea what a boot is much less a heavby duty boot. I imagine the bagging unit--mobile trash can---will reduce clearence.
good luck. J

TRT, you will not likely find the need for a quic-tach or quick connect system for your 3-point on the BX. It is an attachment that fits to the 3-point and then your implements supposedly attach more easily to it. For someone in the "buisness" and who needs to quickly attach and detach implements to keep his productivity up (read as he needs to make a buck) it is a worthwhile consideration on larger units--I doubt it is worth your effort on the BX.

We have a BX with the Kubota Bagger.I've never seen the need for any front end weights. The BX is very well balanced and handles the extra weight on the rear just fine.If I were you,I would buy the set-up without the front weights and give it a try,you can always add this on later. The Boot that comes standard with the Bagger should be heavy enough for any homeowner usage. The Quick Attach for the 3-point might be worth kooking into,as the Bagger can be a real pain to hook and unhook from the Tractor. If you'll check the archives, someone here fabricated a "Quick Hitch" just for this Bagger, looked like a very slick set-up.Best of luck with your BX,it's a great little Tractor.

OK, TresCrows, now I'm registered.

A "boot" is the thing that goes over the opening under the discharge chute of the deck. A hose then connects to it, and that's the path the leaves take.

I bag leaves in the fall. I'm inclined to wait until then and decide between a bagger and a trac-vac, but I'll get a better price if I buy the bagger now, while I order the BX.

Thanks, Tom

TresCrows and mreeter,

I checked the archives before I posted, and the concensus was that the bagger is pain to install, and that a "quick hitch" made it better. Can anyone give me more info about off-the-shelf quick hitches? What's the downside? Cost?

Thanks, Tom

TRT, is this what we are talking about. This is from the Tractor Supply Catalog. I think you can make out prices. See attachement.

I replied to your private message and then took a look at your profile. I don't have near as much property as you do and mine has a lot of trees and dips and turns. If it was larger or if I didn't have the obstacles I do, I would more than likely have looked seriously into the tow behind trac vak with the blower that runs off the pto. The first time I mowed I let the grass get a bit long. I wouldn't make three passes of maybe 100 feet before I had to empty the bags. This meant driving to and from where I wanted them to go. Rather time consuming! After a while I just dumped them in any area of my woods. When I mowed the second time with the grass being a more reasonable height it worked just fine with a good bit of time between emptying runs.

Jeff and everyone else,

Thanks for the help. I'll talk to my dealer, but I think I'll go with the Kubota bagger and the Land Pride QH15 quick hitch. (see http://www.landpride.com/lp/products/qh15_specs.html )

The hitch adds 70 pounds to the back, so I'll add the weight bar and two weights to the front. My unanswered question remains, can I use the grill guard too, or do I mod it to accept weights? I'll let the dealer figure that out I guess.

Thanks again. Tom Marincic
