When I talked to the Loctite Engineer he said not to use teflon tape. He said that Teflon tape is not a sealant, it is a lubricant. It seals leaks by allowing you to over tighten the fixture; frequently to the point of deforming the threads. He said that most people over tighten when using teflon tape.
Before I talked to Loctite I tried Teflon tape and it did not work. I also tried a couple different pipe compounds that I purchased at Home Depot without success. I was desperate when I called Loctite.
