BX2200 doesn\'t like the Worksaver 24\" dirt scoop

Spent hours looking for a 24 inch dirt scoop, finally found one after a 40 mile drive thru PA Dutch country - sure is beatiful this time of year, and interesting seeing six horse teams pulling large implements. But back to the scoop - 1-can't get the top link on except by attaching the lowers, and then carefully raising then, attach the top. I guess a top link about 3 or 4 inches shorter would work, I'll try to figure that out tomorrow. 2-can't raise it all the way, the lift arm bottom ends hit the frame of the scoop, and the turnbuckle clevises also bind up against the frame. If the geometry change with a shorter top link doesn't take care of the lift arm interference, then I'll have to find a welder to extend the attachment plate on the scoop. Oh well.

make sure that you have the correct top link. There have been other threads discussing the fact that the dealer might have used the wrong link. My 2200's link is like a big turnbuckle in that it can be adjusted quite a bit in or out.

I'm wondering if you have an early model of the BX, the first year or two. Kubota made a change at one point in the geometry of the 3pt, in which they changed the gussets that the clevises hooked up to and shortened the top link. There was a service bulletin on this, and you might want to double check. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that someone else was using the same thing you bought on the BX with no difficulties. Also it seems that some dealers were putting the wrong toplink on the machine during prep, so check that as well.

Good luck and let us know how this turns out.

The top-link I got with my bx2200 was the wrong one and it did take me about 2 weeks to finally figure this out and speak to the dealer. but it was the boys from TBN that put me on the right track in the first place :smirk

Re: BX2200 doesn\'t like the Worksaver 24\" dirt scoop

Thanks to all for the suggestions, but:
The BX2200 is brandy new.
The top link closed length center to center is about 14.25 inches.
I played with a chain and a turnbuckle with the scoop on a furniture dolly (TSC$9.95), and it appears that a 12 inch top link will do the trick. I think Speeco has a Cat 0 top link that is 11 inches, now I got to find it somewhere. If I can't, I'll try to find a machine shop to make me up a length of 1/2 by 2 inch stock with appropriately spaced holes. Or, a pair of shackles (clevises), a length of chain cut to the correct length with the chain inside of a piece of pipe might do.

More food for thought....can you reverse the pins on the scoop so that they are pointing in. I have seen where this makes a big difference as the bx series 3ph is a bit lower than others.

No, reversing the pins in this case would make things even worse, believe it or not!!

What I think is the root cause of the problem (since I detest that term, why am I using it?) is that if you take an imaginary side view of the implement, placed on a flat surface, the lift arm and top link attachment points are in an exactly perpendicular plane; where normally, the lift arm points should be offset a couple of inches TOWARD the tractor. Additionally, almost immediately below the lift arm attachmnet points, the top "L" of the frame restricts pivot action. Clear as mud, eh?

Anyhoo, solved my problem at Home Depot - got two 3/8th shackles (clevises to the non nautical), 2000 lb.WLL., 7 links of 3/8ths chain (the guy didn't even raise an eyebrow when I asked him to cut it), then to plumbing for a 8.25 inch length of 1&1/4 pipe. $10 and change in parts, took them home, hooked em up, works like a charm! (Really love my $9.95 TSC dolly - I KNOW that any time I consider a new implement, a new dolly is going to be included.)

Hopefully, JM3 will read this and tell me where I caused to rotate spirally about an axis into a better or more advanced state.
