Hey Fellow BXers:
Does anyone have any helpful hints in changing the fuel filter on the BX ? I barely have enough room to get my crab-scratchers to the fuel filter, much less remove it. I do have the loader on, as well as the grill guard. I'm assuming I need to remove both of those so I can access it from the side after sliding out the plastic side panel. I did not notice any type of fuel cut-off switch, so I'm guessing there isn't one. I have never changed a fuel filter before...any helpful hints would be more than appreciated.

Kevin; It is a tight fit! I do mine from underneath the tractor, so I don't think you will have to remove the loader. There is one filter before the fuel pump, and one after. You'll need either a 10mm or 12 mm wrench (I can't remember which), and the fuel will leak from the tank when you remove the filter closest to the tank. You can either plug the line with a foam earplug, pinch it shut with a pair of vise-grips, or do what I do: run the tractor quite low on fuel and just let the rest drain into a pan.
When you have installed the filters, you will have to bleed the lines. Simply turn your key to on for 30 seconds to a minute.
Good luck, Will

Thanks for the info Will.
Do you typically change both filters?
I bought two at the dealer.
I'm guessing you go underneath to replace yours without a mmm in place ?
thanks,
kevin

I just replaced mine today. If you have a MMM you will need to take it off to access the filter. It is a very simple task. Just jack the front end up with the loader if you have one and put jack stands under the front axle. Slide under the tractor and pinch the line coming from the tank with vice grips and the remove the lines and replace the filter. The front filter is easy. Just pull the shroud off the tractor and replace the filter. All you need is a 10mm socket, screwdriver, and vicegrips to do the job. Hope this helps.

When the dealer tech did my 50 hr service on my BX-22 (I had a time problem and decided to pay for the labor) he left the FEL on, but raised it up high out of the way. He then opened the hood all the way, removed a few fasteners and moved the side panel out of the way to gain access to the filter under the hood. (One of two on the machine) The other one was accessed from underneath the machine when he pulled the hydro filter off.
