While loading the BX2200 on the tilt bed trailer today to bring it home from the dealer, I drove particularly slowly, hoping to take my time and thus pivot and impact the frame more gently.
When I dismounted the tractor, I noticed fuel all over the left rear of the trailer bed. I searched high and low for a leak. Not finding one, I had the svc. mgr. look; he found nothing as well. He had a technician come out. The tech couldn't find anything for quite awhile, until he noticed a vent at the top rear left side above the wheel and below the rear fender which was moist.
When I bought the tractor in 2000, the 82 y.o. late owner of the local dealership miscalculated his price and asked $3k more than everyone else. I bought about 55 mi. away. A few months later, this tractor had a recall on the fuel tank. Kubota notified owners they could have the nearest svc. dept. come to the owner's location to replace the tank. The local svc mgr. at the time (different guy) was very displeased and said he would not do that. Kubota told him he had to. (I didn't own a trailer at the time.) I left the tractor out while I was at work. I received a letter in the mail stating that the work was done, but it really looked as though the tractor had never been touched.
I do not even remember the exact cause of the recall, however it seems it had something to do with a leak when too close to full. I do not remember whether there was an issue with leaking through the vent hole while on an incline or not. (The tank today was only half full, but the angle would have put the vent hole lower than normal and with fuel resting against the vent.
Does anyone remember the exact issue with that tank? Has anyone had a problem with fuel spilling from the vent hole while on an incline? This has never happened in many times of driving onto the tilt bed, however I did spend much more time creeping forward today than ever before. I have some other inclines on my property, but never have the tractor at an upward tilting angle for very long.
Thanks in advance for any input guys.
