I appreciate the advice guys, but 5 minutes? LOL.

Yes, less than 5 minutes, on a BX2200 that I will have owned for 8 years next month. The MMM was already off, and come to think of it, the bracket was a bit wiggley, which did make it a whole lot more easy to manuver the filter and hoses around. But, I have removed fuel filters many times on cars and knew what tools and techniques would be needed. I am not understanding where all the difficulty might be coming from.

I get my MMM off in < 5 min. and back on in < 5 min. The more you do it, the more easily the metal pieces slip together and apart, and the better your technique becomes. Additionally, doing it on a regular basis prevents freeez-up/seizing of pins, etc. As far as the lift arms, they would be well out of the way if the proceedure in the manual is followed and they are retracted. As mentioned below, I have a dolly whith prevents the need for anti-scalp wheel rotation and makes reallignment a snap, and also a smooth concrete floor. In other places, I have described in great detail how to get a quick technique down (it rarely takes me more than 5 seconds to recouple the mid-PTO) along with pics of my MMM dolly. If you want links, please ask.

Can it be done with out removing the MMM?

Well, that would be like those surgeries where they go through a 1 cm. incision in your belly button and snake million dollar equipment around, cut the gall bladder or appendix into little snippets, pull it out, and voila, no scar and 1 day recovery time. Trouble is, the million dollar equipment doesn't exist for this, and we couldn't afford it anyway.

Lee, I know you have extra tractors because you don't like to remove the MMM, but taking the MMM off and getting it back on really isn't all that hard, especially with the right dolly on a concrete floor and the finesse which comes with experience. I promise you that removing and reattaching the MMM will be much less work than trying to change this filter with the MMM still on.

I know you don't have a dolly, and if you don't have a concrete pad, you could just lay a sheet of plywood or two under the center and to the right side of center of the tractor (just make sure everything is on level ground). Rotate the anti-scalp wheels, detatch and roll MMM to the right about 4 feet. Now you can get under the left floorboard, take care of the filter, and roll MMM back into allignment to reattach. I am sure you can do it.

I have A concrete 6'x 11.5' pad in the back yard where I used to rent a trailer space to people years ago.
I never took out the pad when I removed the space after I quit renting it over 15 years ago.
I'm glad I didn't too as it has come in handy several times over the years.
Thanks for the reply.
I may give removing the MMM a whorl so I can replace the fuel filters.
Besides that I need to change the oil in the MMM gear box and grease all the fittings on the mower and the mower drive shaft.

Well, I spent way too much time trying to free the frozen pins and posts for the deck wheels, it's not much harder to just drag the deck out sideways, but I do agree, I'll take it off more often now and keep everything oiled up, especially the rusting PTO connector. I never took the deck off because I was always worried about not getting the PTO back on and shredding the transmission and filter, but I got that on no problem, and quadruple checked it.

Without the deck issues, and if the bolt and been in from the right direction (the bottom!), yeah, then, a simple job.

At least the bogging down at high load problem is fixed, just fuel starvation from the plugged filter...

That size pad should be almost perfect.

i bought a bx2200 with a slightly damaged floor pan.
a few bolts and remove the nobs and you can have the
pan off in no time and get right to the filter. yes it can bend alittle
on the bracket its on. i decided instead of repainting the floor
pan i put the spray on bedliner on the pan looks pretty good.
