I was pushing back some of my frozen snow banks to make more room for the new snow and found myself high centered on some snow. When I went to dig myself out I saw a lot of oil in the snow. I thought I must have punctured the oil filter so I took it off and put new one on. Backed it out and idled it to the garage which was about 20ft away. It was streaming oil the whole way. It appears to have blown the gasket out of the new oil filter and pumped oil out that way. Anyone know what to do?

Bad or missing gasket on the new filter. Not tight enough. Bent the filter mounting nipple. Can't think of anything else.

Gasket from the old filter stayed on the housing? Remove the filter and see what's going on.

The new filter I put on was one that I thought was the cross reference to the Kubota filter. It wasn't, the thread was the wrong thread so it wouldn't tighten correctly, so fluid was poring out that one too.

On Monday when the dealer opened I bought a couple Kubota filters. Installed one and it works fine now. The guy at the parts counter laughed and said, just put another filter on. They've never seen any one do anything but damage a filter. He also said they've been asking Kubota to put a guard on for years.

One more thing. While I was at TSC on Sunday I bought their Mystic super premium oil that was Super UDT and UDT compatible. They only had 2 gal so I thought I'd try it. I had a gallon of Super UDT left over from that last change. While filling the trans the Super UDT was about twice as thin as the Mystic stuff, which to me means easier cold start up pumping. Not sure if it's actually better but thought I would mention the obvious viscosity differences.
Thanks
