Hi,
I noticed some fluid dripping from one of my LA 211 Loader hydraulic lines today - the hose with a male end that comes from the "Power Beyond Port" and has a male end that connects into the top Female connector on the Loader Control Valve.

since this is my first Hydro leak, I have been scouring good ol' TBN and some other sites and have learned that I can get this 16" hose made at either NAPA or perhaps Tractor Supply.

Several questions:
1. After I remove unscrew the male connector from the hose, can I re-use it or should I replaced it (It appears to be a pinhole in the middle of the hose that is leaking).
2. Do I need any Teflon thread tape (or something similar) when attaching the new hose?
3. does anyone know the size of the hose on the LA 211 Kubota Loader? I see there are 3/8 and 1/2" hoses, but what is the measurement the fitting or the width of the hose? and since 3/8" is pretty close to 1/2" when trying to look with 47 year old eyes, I am not quite sure.

I appreciate any help and words of wisdom.
Thanks all
Rick

I forget the term of the fittings, but you can re-use the "good" ends--the ends that stay with the FEL.
If you are talking about re-using the ends on the leaking hose, doubt it. The hose place will put new ones in and press them on so they don't leak.

Simply remove the hose/tubing that has a leak in it, take it to a place that builds hydraulic hoses, hand it to them and say "Please make me a new hose like this."

A few minutes later, they will hand you a new hose that you can re-install.

Painless.

The male hose end is crimped onto the hose. It cannot be reused.

If it's an NPT fitting then you need to use teflon paste which you can get at most hardware stores. Do NOT use telon tape on hydraulic fittings. If the end fiting is a JIC fitting (37 degree flair type) then you do not need teflon paste because the seal occurs on the flared end of the fitting.

I am almost positive you have 3/8" diameter hose. THe Kubota B series loaders that are larger than yours only use 3/8" so I am assuming your is 3/8" too. It is definately not 1/2". Make sure you replace it with 4000 psi 2-wire hose.

That is your best bet. I have hoses made for equipment at work quite often by a local company that makes hydraulic hoses. It is much easier and probably cheaper to take your leaking hose to somebody and have them make an identical one than trying to track down a hose that will work.

Plus what RonR said. Most parts houses will make up a new hose while you wait.

I assume you have double-checked the connectors and cleaned them. In my experience the dang connectors are less reliable than the hoses. A little grit in there will make them leak.

I did look at the connectors, it appears that it is leaking/weeping from the center of the hose, though. I checked with NAPA nad they will make me one today. I called Kubota and tehy said they could make one and gave me a price about the same as NAPA. So who should I go to now??? :) Decisions.

I wouldn't worry about who you go to. It wouldn't surprise me if they both use the same brand hose and fittings. You might also need to pick up some UDT depending on how much fluid you lost... so it might be easier to go to your Kubota dealer. Good luck.
