ok i havent been on here in forever i havent had any probems out of my tractors lol anyways i started cutting grass with my bx about 6 weeks ago and the first 4 were ok but i had gotten done mowing one day and parked it in the garage it sat for prolly 5 or 6 days when i went to get it out there was a small oil spot under the tractor so i looked around and saw oil on top of the cylinder for the power steering so i obviously thought it was the hoses on the cylinder so i replaced them mowed parked the tractor again the next week i noticed oil under it again so i figured it was the gasket on the oil pan but looked into it and now im thinking it it the seals/gaskets behind the flywheel has anyone had this problem?

My BX2200 had 800hrs, and it has not happened yet.

The sources of oil in that area are the engine seal, the steering cylinder, the front axle pivot, and the front axle input shaft.

What color is the oil?

Steering line would be hydraulic oil, pretty clear with a distinct oder (smells skunky to me). Oil pan or main seal would be engine oil. Black if it has any hours on it and smells like, well, engine oil.

I just replaced the main oil seal on my BX1800 saturday. Easy job, no special tools required. I removed the hood, the hood support and muffler. You might be able to remove the flywheel without breaking down the tractor but it would be tight. The flywheel only goes on one way. Before you remove it, make sure you make some reference marks. If you don't have seal puller you can take a small drywall screw and insert it intot he seal then pull it out with pliers.

I ran it about 3 hours Sunday mowing and not a drop of oil

Yeah it was pretty simple to get apart i just took the front end off the tractor to get to the flywheel unbolted it (suprisingly heavy) broke it down until i got to the seal it was pretty simple getting out. when i took mine apart i forgot to label if the linger bolts were on the inside or outside do you remember?

Are you talking about where the horizontal supports attach to the hood support. The supports go inside the hood support with the bolts on the outside

the bolts that hold the piece of alumunium on the front of the motor that hold the seal and gaskets there is 2 rows of bolts around the shaft of the engine one of the sets of bolts is longer than the other and i cant remember if it is the iner or outer set
