BX2200 will run fine for a couple of hours and then will start lossing power and start sputtering and shaking, i will idle it down and let it "catch up" and it will regain all its power and then do it again in a few minutes.

I changed both fuel filters, and added some seafoam to the fuel in case i had some water in the fuel. It ran fine after that for about 4 hours. now it will just lose power occasionaly (slow down/ lose RPMs while mowing) and then "catch itself up" but is no longer coming to a stop or shaking violently. I should also mention I smell a difference in the exhaust when this happens, kind of like it is running rich, if that makes sense.

Any ideas on what may be happing?

Maybe bad fuel. Is this all happening out of the same fuel container?

Sounds like you got a batch of bad fuel, if it ran fine for 4 hrs, that's more than enough time to plug the filter again. I'd change the filter before the pump again, but drain all the fuel out of the tank and use fresh clean fuel. If that doesn't fix it, you may have trash in the tank plugging the fuel outlet.
I got a batch of bad fuel and had to use 5 filters to use what was in the tank, I bought and use a Mr Funnel that separates out trash and WATER and haven't had a problem since.

I used fuel from the same can on my L3010 and did not have any issues and it ran for about 7 hrs, so i dont THINK it is bad fuel, but am not sure.

Is there a screen in the BX fuel tank? and what would I have to do to get to it?

By the way, I looked at the filters and they looked clean, granted this was what i could see by looking through the plastic housing, no sedimate was visable

I don't know if it has a screen in the tank, but if you take the line off at the filter under the floor, and get a good stream of fuel, then it's not plugged. If you got water, it will stop the fuel from flowing through the filter and it is hard to distinguish from diesel. If the flow is not good, take the cap off and blow compressed air through the hose and see if that helps.

I know this solution really does't go with the fact that it comes and goes but have you checked your air filter?

Air filter has been cleaned, two new fuel filters and just had the oil changed

I also added seafoam to the fuel to dry any moisture that may have been i the fuel, but I never had an issue with the fule in the other tractor:confused3:

You may check your fuel sending unit. It is located on the left hand rear of the tank (top of tank, a little farther back than the cup holder on the left fender). There have been some complaints that the sending unit comes loose. It will stay in place when it does (and it works fine) but it allows water to get into the tank when it rains.
Also, I would run the unit until it acts up, then get a clean jar or other type of container and take a sample of fuel. You can go this by removing the line going into the injection pump on the left side of the engine (you will need a pair of plier to remove the clamp). Once you remve the hose, put it in the jar and turn the key switch to the "on" position. Your electric fuel pump will pump what ever is in the fuel line into the jar. Once you get a good sample, let it sit for an hour of so. This allows and contaminates to settle out and you can see if it is water, dirt, what ever. Just a thought.

Coincidently, my fuel gauge only works intermittantly (started acting up last summer) It is normally parked inside, but did spend the night in the rain, but that was a month ago. what do you have to do to get to the sending unit?
