Hi guys, been a while since I visited. I have a question that I hope I can get some help with. While running my BX the past few times I noticed that the engine would sputter now and then, and now most recently the RPMS drop to a point where the tractor almost stalls. I've got about 330 hours on it and I'm thinking that it's a clogged fuel line. IF that's the case, the manual doesn't give a part number (or any good info) for the fuel filter. I did call my dealer who gave me the part number. Now, I'm under the impression that I need to replace 2 of them. I know one is right in front of the radiator, but where is the second? And is there anything in particular I need to know before doing this work?

The second filter is located towards the rear of the tractor near the fuel tank. There's nothing special about the filters or changing them.

Thanks. I assume it's under the chassis?

Based on the symptoms I described in my original pose, does it sound like fuel line problems? I'm going to replace the air filter as well. I recently found that the hose fitting below the filter became disconnected from the hose leading to the engine. That worried me as well that dirt got in there. But a few people I talked to said the symptoms sound more like it's not getting fuel than dirt in the engine.

Ahh, the water in the fuel demon.
Unfortunately I have been down this road too many times. You need to drain the tank completely (I siphoned all I could, then removed the fuel line where it connects to the injectors and let the fuel pump pump the rest out). It wouldn't hurt to put in a little fresh (water free) fuel and pump that out too.
After that, I would add some Power Stroke 911 to remove the rest, install the new filters, fill up, and you should be back in business.
My Mr. Funnell prevents the demon from returning. (mrfunnel.com)
Good luck!

OK, thank you very much. That all makes sense. The farmer up the road from me was suspicious that I may have water in my fuel.

I appreciate the input guys as this is the first time I've dealt with this situation and it probably won't be the last.

If I just turn the key to the "on" position the fuel pump will run, correct? that should pump everything out. The tank is pretty low as it is so it shouldn't be too bad I wouldn't think.

Yep, that will pump it out. Get one of those funnels, it will actually filter out all of the water in the fuel, they use them for aircraft.
Also, if you have one, put your pumped out fuel in a glass jar and let it sit for a couple of hours, I was amazed at how much water there was in mine.

Thanks a ton for the replies guys. Last night I went to the "not so local" farm supply store and got 2 fuel filters, an air filter and something they recommended to add to the fuel if you fear you've got water in it. So..... I got home and removed both fuel filters, drained the tank dry, replaced the filter under the tractor right before the pump. Added about a quart of "good" fuel I just bought last night. Bled that by letting the pump suck it out just to get some clean fuel in there. Replaced the next filter and the air filter. Filled up the tank and let 'er rip. Fired up after about 3 tries and hummed like a kitten. I think I've get her fixed up now. Man I hope so.
