Wow! I'd love to see what that looks like on a B7500!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif What a cush setup. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Any chance we can get a picture of this setup? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I don't remember off hand what the pressures were, but my BX came with the tires extremely overinflated, even for maximum (for loader and gravel work!). Dropping the pressures helped ride tremendously. it's kind of an art to figure what pressure is correct for a given weight. The owners manual is a start, someguys run lower to lessen chance of puncture in the rough stuff. It's not like you're going to have a high speed blowout! Coming off the rim is the big problem at extreme low pressure.

My Jeep came with the pressure 20 pounds over the maximum on the tires, which in turn was about 30-35 over what the door sticker said! Love that 5 minute suspension adjustment!

The other option is wheel weights or heavier rear ballast, and going slower. I noticed a loss in ride quality by putting on tires that did not have ballast, but sometimes ballast can make the ride rougher too, I think the wheel weights would give you the best of both worlds.

I (fortunately) decided to rent a B21 to test before purchase so I could use it for an entire day on MY property with MYconditions. (highly recommended)

After 2-3 hours I had had it. Even dropping the tires pressures, which you can't do much for loader and backhoe operation didn't help much. I was going from a 5000 lb tractor, had hoped the 3800 lb smaller B21 would work. My place where I want to work is bumpy, lots of "melons" half buried, I didn't run the tractor half of the rental time. I instead went with the L35 which is a much bigger lumbering beast that helps the old back.

If you watch the guys running even the big dozers they seem to be all over the place in their seat. But I'm like you, someone comes out with a wonderful replacement seat they'll have my $$

Thanks for the suggestion, Del. I'll check it out. I won't be mowing for another month so I won't have any (back) breaking news until then. Although I will be trying out my new "middle buster" to try directing some of that spring runoff where I want it to go.

Back Busting Update...

I don't remember the name of the movie, it starred Richard Farnsworth, based on the true story of a guy who drove his 1966 JD lawnmower 250 miles to see his ailing estranged brother. (The fellow had no drivers license). Anyway, for the movie, they made a custom (butt-mold?) silicone seat for Richard Farnsworth so he could easier tolerate the long shooting hours in the "seat".

Maybe I should try that with my BX. I can see me at the local plastics manufacturer. "YES, THAT'S WHAT I SAID, I WANT YOU TO TAKE A PATTERN OFF MY BUTT" should make for some interesting facial expressions!

The Straight Story - a great story and an excellent movie. I think that was Farnsworth's last movie.

I never heard the story about the custom seat. I'll look for it the next time I watch the movie.

Glueguy,

I could take a picture of the cab but it won't be until November. I don't keep the cab on in the summer. You can go to www.curtiscab.com . I will get you a picture with the 60" front mount blower and cab as soon as the winter weather comes back. I hope that will be awhile! I'm having fun playing with the loader and box blade now. The B7500 seems to be a great tractor! I had a JD before setup about the same but it didn't have the 3pt. or the loader. I think I made the right decision going orange instead of green!

I'd have to agree! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Everything on this little beast seems perfectly proportioned to "do the job" Right size, right weight, right power. If it had any more power, you'd have to "deal" with traction issues. I'm very happy with mine too! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'll check out the Curtis Cab site too, even though I'll never need the cab, I just wanted to see one!/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Glueguy,

I'm in Iowa and it gets a little cold and windy in the winter. I had a Curtis Cab on my JD and it was nice. So I got one for the B7500 but this time I added the heater! I just installed the 60" mid mount mower this weekend. After you get all the brackets on the mower does go on and off fairly easy. I was glad I got the foldable Rops! It was a little tall to go into my 7' garage door. I was able to work with it this last weekend. I was suprised at the power it has for it's size! I'll see how it works with the 52" tiller I bought for it!
