If I'm still driving anything in '36, far more will be at risk than old tractor parts. But, based on the workmanship I see, the thing I will be driving will not be a new 100 year old technology Kubota, but a 34 year old Power Trac. Come to think of it, we still have that late 50's International 300 around somewhere. I'll look out for it while mowing. Fortunately, with the Power Trac I look in the right direction to see both the mower and what it is about to mow.

having myself several kubota products .. i don't think that these two machines can really be compared. especially not on a piece of paper.
we are using both: a bx2200 and a pt425. and we think that comparing the two is like comparing apples with oranges (as you native northern americans would say). They have both there proper application. But the price to buy, the cost of the replacement parts, the labor rate to repair are very different.
and mechanical parts except for the chasis you can find in any halfway decent mechanical or hydraulic spare parts store.
not so with the bx2200.
we are not mechanics, we use these machines to make a living and don't want to spent our time repairing and tuning other than the required maintenance.
if you have to take any kubota product into the hills, they are mainly build for horticultural application in flatter terrain your pt will not let you down in difficult, snowy, icy, sandy, rocky etc terrain.
your pt test pilot (ha,ah,ha) i don't work for pt

I am seriously considering both the BX and the PT425 and have all but selected the BX because PT is not being responsive. It is scary to purchase a PT without being able to reach out and touch it. It almost seems like PT is limited in their ability to respond to requests. Any suggestions for a Vermonter who cannot fly to VA to look at a tractor??

Have you talked to them on the phone? What aren't they being responsive about?
