I have a man that is insistent about buying my tractor. I told him I would be reluctant to sell it but he keeps saying "name your price". Whenever someone tells me they would be reluctant to sell something, I pretty much forget trying to buy it. My tractor is:
  • 2002 BX 2200 with 650+ hrs
  • FEL
  • 60" MMM
  • 4' Woods BB
  • 42" Woods hog
  • Woods backhoe (maybe 4 hrs. on it)
  • 4' Woods rock rake
  • turf and bar tires
  • Keller PHD
I can't believe I would even sell, but like I said the guy really wants it. Heck, what would I replace it with. AND the obvious question is how do I go about pricing all this.

Well, several ways to go here..................

If your setup is EXACTLY what you want and need, I'd say "No sale".

If however, you wanted something a little bigger or smaller or newer or older, I'd start with the price I paid for the stuff, discount it a little, maybe 15% for use. You have some time and effort into gathering up all this stuff also, so that might be worth something. Make that your price and see what he says. Heck if you have some new stuff, I'd price it for what you paid, just discount the tractor.

I don't want to sell my 2200, but if someone came along like that to me, I'd try to sell mine and buy something older and a little bigger to replace it with.

If you don't sell yours, hook him up with me--I'll even deliver!

Kindof like Ron, only different ... find the rig you would replace the BX with and there's your price.

What reason would you want to sell it for to begin with. I mean would you like maybe a BX2350 or something? You have not mentioned your intentions if you sold it.

What would you get if you sold.

If he is so determined to find a BX2200, then why doesn't he try some of the dealers. I have to believe that there are a fair number on the used market. If you like your tractor, then don't sell it. If you want something larger, then get the most out of it that you can. No need for you to charge him any less than the dealer would charge for an identical piece of equipment. He did come to you, so there is no reason to give it away... Dusty
