bx2230 3 pt wont go up

on my 2230 with 410 hours, the 3 point will not go up and release lever automatically. it goes about 1/2 way up and then stops but won't release the lever. Then I move the lever and again and it goes up more, but not all the way, finally, if i hold the lever, it will make it all the way up. the fluid is full. Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Have you looked at the ontrol linkage on the lever. Sounds like you may have a roll pin partially sheared so that it only occasionally moves the lift valve spool. I presume steering and other functions are operating correctly.

thanks, i will check that out. what i didn't mention is that the lever stays in the up position, and you can hear that it is trying to go up, i then return it to nuetral and then up again and it will move up a couple of inches. and then i repeat the process.
