I originally posted this at the end of an existing thread under the Kubota Owning/Operating Forum and did not get any response. So I thought I would try this forum since it is more of a Hydraulics question.

I know this is a little early to be asking questions about snow removal, but I'm just looking to plan ahead. I just purchased a used front blade for my bx2230. It did not come with any manuals. It is the manual angle/hyd lift.

I assume there is a way to use the existing joystick to control the blade however the joystick valve stays with the FEL when it is removed.

I was thinking of purchasing a separate hydralic control valve and fabricating a mount that I could attach after removing the FEL. While I'm at it, I thought I might get a 2 spool valve and also add an additional hydraulic cylinder to control the blade angle.

Would this be the correct valve to use?

I am not a Kubota guy, so you may want to check in at the Kubota forum or at your dealer but...
I seem to remember a "kit" or something to make the valve stay on the tractor like the newer models do. Also mke sure your valve is a 4-way, not a 3-way ore will not be able to use the angle feature on the blade.

Thanks for the response kennyd.

In fact my joystick valve is a 3 way. That is another reason I was looking to use a new 2 spool valve. Would the one that I mentioned above be the correct valve for that application?

Can you just post a link?

I can recomend one aslo from the Surplus Center.

Sorry for the delay, been out of town...
That valve will work fine, but it is HUGE, it probably weighs 25lbs!, I could not find the specs on a quick search...but I think a compact Eaton/Cessna valve from the SURPLUS CENTER is much better sized for your machine.

You are correct. They list the valve shipping weight at 26 lbs. Yikes!

I do like the idea of the smaller valve, but the valve you hyperlinked does not include a float feature. Isn't this something I would want on a snow plow blade? Is this feature not common on smaller valves? I did a quick search myself and was not able to find any other small valves like the one you linked.

Also, they list the power beyond conversion plug as an accessory. As far as I can tell, I would not need the power beyond for this use/application/set-up.

One other thing; the list the work ports as 9/16" fittings. I could not find any 9/16" reducer bushings. I figured on using 1/4" hoses.

The smaller valve would definitely be a better set-up.

Yes JS, the float would be nice for a front blade...
Take a look at THIS ONE, It's got float, and has a joystick control...
I believe you do not the PB for your setup...

1/4" hoses will be fine...adapters are availbe but are not nessesarily easy to find...you can check with the Surplus Center or at DHH for them.

Thanks Kd. I like that valve. That one also uses 1/2" fittings and I know I can get the 1/2 to 1/4 reducer bushings,

I'll let you know how it works out (and I'll post some pictures).
