I HAVE A BX2230 WITH 275 HOURS ON IT AND NOTICE SOME FLUID LEAKING AFTER DOING SOME VIGOROUS BUSHHOGGING. TRAILER IT AND BROUGHT IT HOME AND DECIDE TO GO AHEAD AND REPLACE THE FLUID AND FILTER SICE IT WAS GETTING CLOSE. THEN I REMEMBERED THAT I HAD DONE REPLACED THE FLUID AND FILTER AT ABOUT 150 HOURS WHEN SOMETHING PUNCTURED MY FILTER. SINCE THE FILTER WAS NOT THAT OLD I DECIDED TO LEAVE IT ON. AFTER REPLACING THE FLUID IT STILL LEAKS BAD. I CAN CUT GRASS FOR 30 MINUTES AND HAVE A 8" PUDDLE AFTERWARDS. I HAVE CHECKED THE VENT TUBE ITS FINE. I HAVE CHECKED THE STRAINER AND ITS IS FINE.
COULD SOMETHING BE IN THE OLD FILTER THAT IS MAKING IT LEAK THIS WAY. LOKING FOR SOME POINTERS HERE IF ANY OF YOU HAVE RUN ACROSS THAT BEFORE. IT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY BE COMING FROM THE VENT TUBE AND RUNNING DOW THE SIDES. I HAVE CHECKED ALL THE FITTING AND HOSES THAT ARE VISIBLE.
THANKS

275 hrs isn't much for one of the power steering hoses to be leaking but generally a leaking PS hose is the most common source of a BX leaking hydro fluid.
If you haven't checked, take the operator station screen off and look up under the dash towards the steering controller (where the steering wheel connects) and thoroughly check/feel around for wetness around each of the 4 hoses where they connect to the controller. Those hoses have some serious bends that must induce wear.
PS hoses will also start to leak around or near the front steering cylinder so check that area for wetness also.
You say you're bush hogging. Do you have a skid plate installed? If not theres been quite a few folks that have had their filters punctured and even knocked hard enough to break the seal which caused them to leak. To check you'll need to crawl under there and feel around the filter, base and the entire area for wetness. Like the PS controller, these areas should be high and dry. If you feel any wetness it's a good indocator of where your leak is.

This is high pressure fluid so you don't to be checking for wetness w/the engine running. Once you've narrowed it down to a specific area but not a specific unit, you may do alittle troubleshoot with the engine running but you need to have on a proper pair of safety glasses as well as proper skin protection. The owners manual shows how to use a piece of cardboard or similar material to hold near a suspected leak source to help pinpoint the leaking area via the fluid hitting the material.

also, you can generally nail down the general area by observing where the wet spot is under the tractor.
Good luck
