I got 45 hours on my BX2230, 60"MMM and FEL. It's amazing what I can get done around the yard.

I took the mower deck off yesterday because I was working in the woods with my FEL and it was getting in the way. It's not my first time taking the mower deck off. I reattached it yesterday and all of a sudden I can't set the mower height knob to top (the 3ph and mower deck are raised all the way to the top). I can only get it in 4". It was late and I was tired so I left it till today. Oh and I have a flat right tire, the valve stem seemed to be loose.

When I got home first I replaced the tires valve stem. Then I detached the mower deck from the two lifter arms that are attached to the rear hydrolics. Then I raised the 3ph and mower lifter arms all the way to top. I could then get the knob into top with a little bit of work. It did not seem as smooth as usual. I then reattached the mower deck and again I can not get the knob in top with the mower 3ph and lift arms are raised all the way up. Where is the problem. I can not see where the mechanism does its work. Please help?!?!

Thanks for all the help!

Check the front hitch to make sure that it is fully engaged and not binding up. You mentioned that you had it on in the woods while using the front end loader, might you banged the mower deck while out there and not noticed this. If this is a possibility, then get out he manual and check all the setting to make sure that all the adjustments are proper. Installing the mower deck isn't rocket science, but it is a nuisance when it doesn't go on correctly every time. Practice makes perfect, but you need to know what to practice. Read the manual and see if there is something that you might not be doing correctly. When all else fails, read the instructions..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Check the "lift link" adjustment (see attached picture). They may be adjusted too high, preventing the arms/deck from raising high enough to get the height adjustment knob into "top".
The lift arms may be hitting the stop (it is next to the #1 balloon on the picture) if the links are adjusted too short.

Thanks for the tips. I figured it out. I had adjusted my mower deck the day before. In doing so I had messed with the bolts on the back of the tractor that control how high the contorl arms lift the mower. I had set it just high enough to allow the hiegth knob to top with out the deck on it. As soon as I added the deck the weight ould not allow the arms to reach the required hiegth to get it in "top".

I had to lower the mower with the links then I raised how high the arms go up with the bolts near the rear of the tractor. I wish I could give better technical detail but I don't have my manual handy hear at work. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Stupid newbie question: The Clevis pin on the left side midmount arm was missing on my brand new BX2230 and the arm was hanging down... so I tied it up with baling wire (basically just ran the wire through the holes where the pin should go and wrapped it around a couple times), since I'm not currently using the midmount for anything. I can't think how this is functionally different than having the pin in there, but you never know. Have I done a really bad, stupid thing?
