Price Check BX2230 pricing

A local dealer has given me a price of $15,000 plus tax for a BX2230 with FEL, 60" RFM, 54" rear snowblower and 48" tiller. Does this sound like a good price?

The RFM is a Brushhog. The tiller, I believe, is a LandPride. I do not recall what make the snow blower I think it is the Kubota model.

To get a ballpark feel for pricing, you might want to check out a Kubota B-series Pricing "calculator" which has been up for awhile:

To be sure, it was last updated back in Jan 04, and prices do vary around the country as TBNers well know. Notwithstanding, the guide should give you a leg up as you go shopping.

Quotes I've gotten for a tiller were about $1100.
Blower $1300-1400
Loader $2750
RFM about $1000
That makes the tractor come in at about $8750

Is that about right? If so then it's about normal in N.Y

I'm in Rochester and after last winter I'd recommend especially here a block heater. The diesels run mint but start hard in the winter. Indoors or out the longevity saved on the engine is worth it.

Bob, thanks for the advice. I'm in Clinton now but grew up in Brockport. One more question for you - do you keep your tractor in a garage/barn or do you keep it outside in the winter? I'm planning on building a shelter for my tractor but won't be able to do so before this winter and I'm trying to determine how bad it would be to leave the machine outside for this winter. Thanks.

If you have to leave it outside, a coupla heavy tarps will protect it fine. I left mine out the first year and tarped it most nights.

If you have to leave it outside for the winter, see if you can find a place that you can "throw" together a shelter. It is better if the cover doesn't touch the tractor and the air can circulate around the tractor. Some 2X4's nailed together to form a small "garage" and cover with the blue tarp will work well and won't cost much. This will be better than tarping the machine and will also make it easier to get the machine out when you need it. I put a tarp over mine and the wind actually wore the paint right off a few spots. As Junkman mentions something like an enclosure would be better. If it's going to be outside I'd have them put a heater on even before you bring it home. The cost of the heater is $35 and you might be able to have him throw it in on the deal.
My dealer actually talked me out of the heater to begin with. Said it was not necessary. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif If you listen to your engine crank over a 10 below one day you'll think twice about not having it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

After some haggling, I think I have a deal with one of our two local Kubota dealers. For $14,900, I'm getting:

BX2230 w/FEL and a block heater
60" Brushhog RFM (rear discharge)
54" Pronovost snow blower
50" Kuhn tiller

The other dealer was $15 cheaper without the block heater, so it was essentially a wash. I went with the dealer who is closer to my home and work. Thanks to all of you who posted with advice. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
