BX2230 seat

Well I've spent about 10 hours on my '04 (new to me in Feb) and am beginning to dislike the seat. Seems to have a slight forward cant and I'm sliding around on it. Had to wear the seat belt which I don't like, to stay on it on slight slopes. I'll either have to get some butt stick-em or a new seat.

Is this a common problem w/BX2230 or is it just me & my posterior

If I were to change it out what would the recommendations be

That seat needs to go. My brother's BX1850 had the same one, always felt like you were going fall out of it. It would make my back start hurting because I was always pushing back with my feet to stay in it.

The seat on my BX24 is the replacement Kubota came up for it, and it is very nice. It was a direct bolt on replacement on the 1850, so I have to assume it would fit your tractor.

Messicks had a bunch awhile back for 99.00, but I don't know if they still have any. It was a sweet deal, as they are over 200 normally. Shoot them an email and see if they have any left. Hope this helps.

Edit: You might want to post Kubota specific inquiries in the Kubota board, you'll get more first hand knowledge over there. I just noticed this thread, and it's several days old.

My brother bought his maybe 2-3 months ago, and they had a few left. I think the rush on them is over, so they just may have one. Good luck.

He purchased the seat you have on your 25. The older seats left alot to be desired.

Oh, you've got good! How many hours do you have on the 25? Maybe the seat will break in a little better.

sxs191 I'll let you know how it is when I get it. Shipped today so I should have it by next Wed. The guy at Messicks told me it was a pretty good seat....we'll see.

Got the new seat today and installed it. Been raining and not able to get a trial run on it, but from just sitting on it in the garage, it is a MAJOR improvement over the original seat. :thumbsup:

I have to go to the auto store for some plastic plugs to fill the 6 tapped holes in the metal back like the old one has. I wonder what there for??

They should be for the arm rests - you may want those instead of plugs. What did they charge for the seat with shipping?

Never thought of arm rests. Seems like they'd be more in the way than helpful. I got some plastic plugs from Carquest and filled the holes. Their easy enough to get out, just unscrew them.

I think the total cost was $115 or +/- a couple bucks. What a difference, darn nice seat. Gave the old one to my neighbor...... free for the hauling.

One thing else, I think if I remove the two small springs under the seat, there will be enough weight to keep the seat switch depressed so it won't keep shutting off when I stand up momentarily. I haven't got around to trying that yet.

Thanks for the info - the armrests fold up out of the way when you don't want to use them - other than that they are handy for different situations.
