I was able to solve the problem with the sticking 3-point hitch lowering speed knob. I now have a bigger problem and need your help. I removed the backhoe and I can not keep the 3 point hitch to stay in any set position. It always falls down. It raises and lowers Ok, but will not stay in any set position. The FEL works fine and so did the backhoe. I do not have a repair manual on the BX23 at this time. I guess I need to get one. Is there a separate relief valve for the Three point system?
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks again. The help I got yesterday about the sticking lowering speed knob was very useful and I thank all that replied.

Hi Maybe you have the 3pt lower knob to wide open. Try closing and just crack little bit like 2-3 seconds for implement to lower. Just suggesting.

Thanks, but I have tried that and that does not help. No matter what position I have the control lever in the back blade just drops. The control lever does not move as it drops. I would guess it would be in the valve. Thanks for responding. Sure hope others may have some experience with this. I have been searching and haven't had much luck at this point.

You mention the lowering speed knob was frozen, and that you got it un stuck. What im thinking/worried about is there there was or now is internal damage to the valve allowing fluid to bypass something and the leakdown you experience. Your control lever would still function normally as stated.

How long does it take for the hitch to lower, and how much weight do you have on it? To determine whether the cylinder seals or the valve is leaking, raise the hitch and close off the speed control valve. If the hitch stays up, you have a bad control valve. If it still falls at the same rate, then the piston seals are leaking by. If it falls slower, piston seals and valve are both leaking by.

Good 2 know. Racking brain to help as no response. Maybe lack use (BH on years) has lead to dry seals? Power stearing seal fluid or just use much? don't flame

Thanx PR

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the reply. When I raise it up and close the lowering speed valve it still falls quickly. It doesn't make any difference if the speed control valve is closed or open it still false quickly. The control lever seems to be working fine. When I put it in the raise position it raises the three point hitch just fine and when it gets to the top of the lift the control handle will move to neutral. I was told this is suppose to happen. Even when it goes to neutral the hitch falls. It will go all the way down to the ground. It will not stop even if I close the speed control valve.
Arsenix thank you for your response as well. I think I am narrowing it down. Hopefully I will get a little more information before I start tearing into it.

Hi Stargazer, I agree that maybe the seals are dry. Don't know if in time they will work again or not. I don't understand this comment though "Power stearing seal fluid or just use much? don't flame" could you explain this. Thanks.

Jim
