Found a piece of slag about the size of a pencil eraser embedded in the belt.
It cut about half way through from the outside in.
Wonder what effect if any that will have on the life of the belt?
No experience with the Kubota belt but the Gates tooth belts on a Harley can be holed by a pebble if it gets between the belt and the pulley. This is not a cause for concern if the hole is towards the middle of the belt.

..................
This goes from the top of the belt through about half of the thickness of the belt and is right in the center of the width of the belt.

That's what I did.
Mowed the yard - Worked fine.
I learned on thing though don't run the mower with stuff on top of the deck - clean it off before using.
Could save you a $100 belt.
