BX23 as a big ol\' floor jack

I needed to replace one of the 4"x6" posts on the front of the barn. As it turns out I have this handy, giant floor jack. I used the FEL to boost the beam up just enough to get the old post out and the new one in. The attachment shows the new post in place (the one to the right of the FEL) and that handy tool I used to hold the roof up. I was a little wary of walking under the overhang while the tractor was the only thing holding it up. I had the new post all ready cut to size so all I had to do was put it in place as soon as the old one came out.

Ok MR, do my eyes decieve me? Is that a right fancy scarfed joint in the header over the left post? And I can fix that rotted post for you. Package it with the jack, send them to me and I will take care of the rest. I will ocassionally send photos if they become homesick. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was hoping no one would notice that left post. What you're seeing there is a split piece of the beam along the bottom. The left post had been replaced by the previous owner. I can only assume they did not have that same handy tool that I have. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The original left post must have been "persuaded" out of position. The replacement post is too tall. The beams on both sides slopes upward to the top of that post. The post is also installed twisted. It doesn't sit square to everything else. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
