Looks like a Wallenstein thumb...been around a long time...

Once in a while I wish I had one. If I had any size of excavator it would be a must have attachment, but given that the BX series does not even swing 180 degrees, it does not seem to make as much sense (especially at almost $400)

This was the first thing I got for my BX, and it's been well worth the $400. I have endless piles of dead trees on my property from new construction (6 years ago now 
), so I've used it countless times. It's also especially helpful for loading logs into my trailer to tote to my brother's house. Here's a picture.

I felt like posting another picture. This the thumb being used to pull a tree out of the ground. I got home from work on a windy day, and there was a 40 foot tree lying across my driveway. Luckily, it was about 400 feet from the house. Sure, I could have just gotten out the chainsaw, but it was much more fun to do this, and it also allowed me to pull the rest of the root out of the ground.

Numerous threads with literally hundreds of posts have been put up re. thumbs for BX 22, 23, 24, 25 and other BXs that have Woods BH6000 bh. BroTek was long favored over Wallenstein generation I, II, and III due to design flaws: collapsing jaws and slippage which broke hydraulic cylinders. Wallenstein generation IV has not had any reports of problems posted that I know of, though I may have missed it. BroTek has never had any problems reported here.
Do a search for "BX" together with "thumb" in the two Kubota forums with no date restrictions and you will find enough reading to keep you up all night.
