My wife was driving across the field when the right side of the mower deck droped to the ground. After assuring her that it wasn't her fault I went about finding the reason why. Very simply the "L pin" from the rear link popped out. Why did this pin just all of a sudden say to it's self "I'm going to pop out and give Eric a hard time"? There is only the force of a spring to hold the L pin in. There ain't no codder pins or nothin'. So whats the deal? Anyone else have this happened? Any ideas on future prevention of the L pin poppin' back out? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I know this may sound silly, but are you really sure that the thing was fully engaged? It can look like it is and still not be completly in the hole...
Never had that happen on my BX2200 400+ hours, lots of rough ground.
Also, watch out for the pin holding the wheels on coming out, scarred the heck out of the lawn before I noticed it....

I'd agree, I don't think it was in all the way. I really can't just pop out/off.

I have problems with the right side pin on my 2200 also. Mine tends to work itself out but has never came all the way out. Maybe I just tend to check it before it does. The left side never moves. This is a very irritating problem. Only thing I can see to solve it is drill and pin it or maybe the spring is weak and needs to be replaced.

I really don't agree with the not all the way in theory. The spring is pushing on it all the time, I would think that it would have a tendency to work it's way in as opposed to out. The weak spring idea sounds good. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it for now. Maybe call the dealer, tell him he needs to replace the tractor!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mower decks have been attached this way for years! You are not nor will be the last to have problems.
We have seen the ends bent in towards the center of the machine so the pins are barely in and pop out easily. Had to reinforce with additional steel.
Even with rounded holes from the amount of times they have failed.

Normally the problem started from hitting the sides of the deck forcing the metal frame to bend or flex.

I am having that problem with the left one on my BX23 with a 60" MMM. I know that it is fully engaged each time, yet it does work it's way out. I'm thinking that I need to check over the deck alignment. As there have been some times when it does not happen and other time when it is several times over 3 acres of mowing.
