As luck would have it, I also have both a
BX2660 and a
BX23. I just completed the service on my
BX23 the other day. Most everything will be similar on the two tractors with minor differences. A few things I can think of off the top of my head:
1. I never could get the hydraulic fluid screen off. I.e., the one that you remove the left rear tire to access. I tried everything, other than heat, and could not get the threads to break loose. I finally gave up and bypassed that step.
2. Getting the
BX23 re-filled with hydraulic fluid is a PITA if you don't remove the backhoe (I didn't). The filler hole is much further forward than it is on the
BX2660, so you will need a long-necked funnel and someone to hold it for you. Of course, you may be The Hulk and thus be able to hold a funnel in place with one hand and a 2.5 gallon jug of UDT chest-high with the other hand while pouring at a rate that won't overflow the funnel.
3. The engine oil filter is right there in plain sight but getting a wrench on it in a position where it can be turned took me a little trial and error.
Otherwise the service was fairly straightforward, and there weren't many head scratchers. The hydraulic screen was the only real frustration.
If I had a service manual, I'd share it with you, but I don't. Go to the following thread and it will be a huge help even though the pics are for a
BX2660:
