WHICH TIRES COME STANDARD ON THE BX23? I HAVE NOTICED ONE DEALER HAS TURF TIRES ON THIS MACHINE.
I WOULD THINK THE BAR TIRES,FOR BETTER TRACTION.ARE THE BAR TIRES MORE EXPENSIVE ???

They come either way (turf or Bar) or you can get both sets.

I have bar tires on mine. some guys have purchased both and have never used the turfs. The bar tires are so wide they do little damage to sod.

I opted for the bar tires. They are fine although you have to be careful if the ground is wet (leaves tracks) or you turn the wheels while sitting still (you'll tear up the grass under the tires). Other than that they work fine on the grass.

When you order your tractor you will have a choice of tires (bar or turf) as well as BH bucket size (10" or 12").

I would also get the high output alternator. There is a huge difference in construction of the small alternator (which looks kinda like a big bicycle generator) versus the big one (which looks more like an automotive alternator).

I think you pick which tires you want when you order it. When I was shopping for one, the type of tire didn't seem to affect the price. In my area, most of them I saw at the dealers had the bar tires, but they indicated I could have turf tires if I wanted. Or I could order the set of turf tires on wheels for $360 and have both. I went with the bar tires to start with. My concern was if they would tear up yard when mowing. I have been all over the yard now. In the areas where the ground is really soft, I do get tire tracks. In the rest of the yard, you can't tell. So far, I will be sticking with just the bar tires. Traction in the 6 inches of snow we had about two weeks ago was excellent.

I am one of dozens on here who bought both and wound up using only the bars. They are better traction and do no damage to turf.

When I got my BX23 I bought 2 sets (turf and bar). I use bar only for winter and turf for the rest of the year. I paid 230$ for the second set. I don't regret it because bar was damaging my turf (when you pass often on the same spot unless you have a very compacted ground... not good for turf growing though). I can say that up here in Canada we have a bigger preference for turf (the ride is smoother too).

But if you have soft soil like mud or clay you should stay with bar.

1*Rite: They don't really rut the yard in such places it just leaves an impression of the tire lugs.
I found a quick easy solution to removing such impressions from the ground.
I simply drive my lawn tractor with the turf tires over the BX 23 ag tracks and walla you can't even tell that the BX23 had been there.
2*That's right.
3*To me that's the only way to go,
The only thing I would say is it would be nice to have an extra front and rear AG tire and rim for a spare in case of a flat.

I have to say that I don't have a mower on my BX23. I do only loader and backhoe work with it. I've never tried to drive on my lawn without FEL and BH. I'm sure this would make a big difference.

That's why I stick with my opinion that turf tires are better. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Oh yeah... a tractor with turf tires is not as flash as one with bars. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I think that you have to try both to really know the difference. Up here in Quebec, my dealer told me that new tractors (B, L, M) are sold with turf because R4 are more expensive and useless. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif BUT, as my dealer said, with R4 you have a better look. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Big companies of snow removal have their tractors equipped with turf tires to use on snow (better traction). /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So IMO this is a question of fashion: turf for everything except for mud and clay, ag for mud, clay and field operation, and bars to flash. Why do I have this opinion: If big companies with many many tractors choose to go with turf there's a reason... I told my dealer: last winter I changed my turf for bars on my BX23 for more traction. He replied you should have left the turf you would have had even more traction. About bars, I'm talking about CUT and sub-CUT. I'm not talking about industriel tractors.
