I want to put snow chains on my bx23 turf tires--I cant tell if i need spacers or not, or if so, how thick. Anybody running chains on bx23 turfs without spacers?

Simple- measure clearance between the inside, and top, of your rears tires and the fender. If you have 2" or so, you should be good. Different chains have different requirements, of course. I bought a set of chains for my L3400's front wheels, which are likely similar sized to your rears... If you are interested, I will sell them cheap. Measure your circumference, and PM me??
The above poster is correct. Two inches is about the required space you will need for chains. I put chains on BX-25's with both turfs and R4's without spacers. It was a tight fit, but they worked. In this shot, the tires were R4's.
They fit on by BX 23 with my bar tires, but its a close tolerance. Spacers give a little more room. If you don't use spacers make sure you have good tension on the outside so the can't migrate out from the tire and grab one the levers underneath. You can guess why I know about that. I use spacers and keep em tight now. Not a worry now

Sometimes, when you are dealing with ice, or icy snow, chains are the ticket to moving. Turfs alone, no matter how heavy the tractor above them, can spin on ice.
Just for reference ..... I have a T1030 NH which is about the same size as a BX.
I bought new chains for the rear loaded tires (R4s) for usage when I put the 52" blower on the back.
In two years I have yet to need them. They're still in the box.
