would a bx2350 handle a half yd bucket for loading mulch at my landscape yard into the back of pickup trucks ?

Not sure if you're asking about the bucket capacity or the bucket reach over the side of a pickup bed. As to the later, I've used mine to load over the side of my 4WD Toyota Tacoma and over the side of a 4WD F-250 with some room to spare. Guess it depends on what truck you're trying to load.

As for the bucket capacity, I believe it's just over 4 cubic feet struck, so maybe 5 CF heaped. At 27 CF per yard of material, a half yard would be around 3 bucket fulls.

Agreed...it's the same size loader on the BX24 and that's about what I average. You may be able to gain a lot more if you add the expander.

I think the OP was asking if the loader would handle a 1/2 yard bucket instead of the one he has. I'm sure it would but the extra weight of the bucket coupled with the material being loaded and it may not have enough strenth to lift it. Dry mulch may be OK but if its wet I just dont know. I want to say it will only handle 500#s. Maybe someone elsecould confirm

Yes, max load to full lift height is around 500 lb for the BX2350, but, I've never seen a half yard bucket for a BX. Sounds like it would weigh a lot more than the standard bucket thereby defeating the purpose. BXpanded.com does offer a "bucket doubler" for light material - don't think it turns the standard bucket into a half yard though.

I could be wrong but I thought that the BX had a 1/4 yard bucket onit. At leaST that is what my dealer told me when I bought my BX24. So if you get the bucket expander from BXpanded that should make it a 1/2 a yard.

I dont think the BX bucket even holds 1/2 cuyd. When I fill my landscape with mulch that was loaded with bobcat I get 2 or 3 cuyd at a time. It doesnt even fill the 8x16 trailer. It takes more then 8 trips going on the trailer and scooping up the mulch and moving it to where i need it in the bed.

I am not even concerned about ability to add a larger bucket. What I am concerned about is the operator fills the larger bucket to the max and lift it in the air all the way to get it in the truck that is high, if the operator is turning with bucket in air full of mulch, it gonna be very tippy. The BX has a very narrow stance. Mulch in the standard bucket is not heavy at all, adding a larger one would need to be custom made so its lighter and BX would need to have rears filled, add wheel spacers and add weight box. Also I would remove the metal bumper grill and make a new one that is car fender freindly. Sorry about the large winded post, but I am more concerned about saftey aspect more then the capacity issues.
