I have a 1.5 yr old BX2350 (less than 25 hours) with front mount snowblower. Took it out this evening to clear the 850 ft driveway.

The tractor repeatedly stalled when the PTO engaged to drive the snowblower but only when going downhill??? When going uphill there was no problem. After the tractor stalled, the tractor would start right back up with no problem....after disengaging the PTO of course.

I treated the diesel fuel prior to the cold weather with anti gel and additive so I wouldnt think that this is a problem.

Has anyone run into this or have an idea on what is causing this?

Thanks

Sounds like the safety switch under your seat. Maybe some ice not allowing the nylon lever to go down all the way.

I encountered downhill stalling with my BX24, and was puzzled and concerned until I realized that the slope was causing me to lean forward when operating the FEL and that was triggering the safety cut-out under the seat. Once I learnt to lean back in the seat the problem was solved.

I had the same problem too so i remove one of the two spring plate (presence operator switch)under the rear seat and every things works just fine.

I'll bet it's the safety switch. I had to replace one on my BX when it started doing the same thing. Contacts went bad. Works fine ever since.

I encountered the same problem using the front end loader facing downward on a steep ditch. It would occasionally stall. Eventually I figured out it was my butt sliding forward on the seat and the safety switch under the seat killing the tractor.

Thanks all.

I went back out late last night to get the rest of the snow removed and made sure that I stayed in the seat properly. It worked alot better but still tried to stall a couple of time so I guess I will have to replace the switch.

Take a close look. The switch is adjustable. I had to adjust it on my BX24 but sorry, right now I don't remember how.

As Skippy said earlier, lift the seat up and on the frame under the right seat spring there are 2 "Z" shaped spring brackets sandwiched together that hold the seat up off the seat switch until you sit down, remove the 2 small bolts and take one of them out (the parts list only calls for 1 anyway). I now have to go down a much steeper hill before I slide forward enough for the tractor to shut off. If you're not already, wearing your seat belt helps keep you from sliding forward too.
