Hi everyone,

I'm a greeeeen user and I'm just wondering if I'm breaking in my engine correctly? The owners manual isn't that specific on operational rpm's. I'm looking around online for advice on rpm's for break-in period, weather I'm mowing or using the FEL and I found very little. I know that max rpm is 3200 in general but can someone recommend/ refer what the rpm should be set at for mowing and using the FEL respectively?

Thanks!:D

My BX2350 manual states don't run full throttle for the first 50hrs. I usually run about 2600rpm for the FEL and 2000-2500rpm depending how high the grass is.

I was doing a lot of FEL work with top soil during my brake in and I used the whole RPM range in the process which should promote the best break in. I had to use WOT on occasion (a FEL full of top soil is heavy) but transporting it to where I needed it was 1500 to 2000 RPM. I used varing RPM for mowing to help break in, 2600 to 3000RPM. Now with 80hr I mow at 3000 to 3200 depending on height of grass.

I just finished my 50 hour service :) I ran it gently (2500 RPM or less) for the first few hours. I was in the dealers ordering a weight bracket and everyone there told me to run it WOT while mowing, etc. He said "break it in like you're going to use it" so that's what I did after about 20 hours or so. It did not lower the oil and it actually ran better after the first couple of runs at WOT. Keep in mind, I didn't run it this way for extended peroids of time. I would stop and let the engine idle to cool off every 20 minutes or so. So far I haven't had any problems. After the 50 hour service I ran it hard for about 4 hours straight yesterday (finally).

I'm all new to this being my first "real" tractor. That said the manual states PTO speed is reached at 2800rpm(engine). Also states the max RPM is 3200, but mine at WOT is 3400. So is there really a need to run above 2800?

Thanks for the input from everyone it shed a few new lights on my experience and was very helpful. I've got a little over 12 hrs on her... 5 of those were mowing and the rest with the FEL. I found that I only needed about 2200-2400 rpm for mowing and 2100 rpm was perfect for my skill level on the FEL, (none). :D
This past weekend I was able to knock down and spread out a large pile of dirt and got a good start on another pile and started back filling around my foundation where it has settled.
I'm having way to much fun with this sweet machine.

Did any of you have any fluid leakage at the quick disconnect for the FEL hydraulic lines and/or is this normal? I noticed because dust had settled and soaked up the fluid.

Thanks again!

Before you disconnect the remotes shut the tractor down and cycle the hydraulic valve. This will remove the back pressure and reduce the leakage. I just put a shop rag around the assembly when I disconnect and it stays pretty clean.
