I trailered the BX23 to the dealer to have the quickhitch and snow blower installed. After getting the tractor home, I noticed that the lefthand wedge did not fit above the tractor's frame, as it does on the righthand side. I also noticed lockwashers installed on the T-handled bolt that pulls the wedges. With the lockwasher, only a few threads were caught in the wedge. The dealer did not give me the quick hitch installation manual, so I don't know if the lockwashers are supposed to be there, but because the T-handled bolts have nylocks, I doubt that the washers are supposed to be installed.

Without cutting or grinding, there is no way to make the left wedge come above the frame like on the right side. Since the dealer is a couple of hours one way, I would prefer to fix this myself. Has anyone else seen this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

I will attach a photo of the bad fit.

Thanks

Can you post a picture that shows more of the assembly? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you do a search for Quick Hitch you find there are a lot of comments about having to fit the Hitch to the Tractor and Attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

bitseeker,

Some fitup is not unusual but the dealer should have done that. He also should have given you a manual for the quickhitch and one for the blower. I don't recall if mine has lockwashers but I do recall the manual saying to tighten the Tbolts every hour as they can loosen up. They may be the dealers fix to keep them tight. You could try loosening both and pulling up to shift the left wedge up and then tighten both (it may be tipped).

Good luck,
Michael

I went out and looked at my 2200 with a front mount blower and there is a lock washer between the t-handle and the mount. I do recall that when mounting my quick attach that one side was a bit lower than the other. Part of that may be that the welding on the tractor may be a bit off.
I try to tighten the t-bolts after every use but have yet to find that they have loosened up at all. It would appear that the main force exerted between the tractor and the snowblower is taken up by the rods that hold the unit to the tractor. I will attempt to shrink a picture down and attach it to a future post.

Michael,

Thanks for the ideas. I agree that the dealer should have seen the problem and corrected the fit. There were LOTS of other errors on the blower installation, so I'm not surprised. The dealer is now sending a manual for the quickhitch. I did get a manual for the blower.

I checked that the QH was not tipped, and it was up as high on both sides as possible. The dealer said grind the frame, so I did. the wedge now comes partway forward on the front of the frame, and the load is down, as designed.

The following link has three photos and two sketches of the problem and the fix. http://www.cosner.com/kubota

Another thing worries me. The mechanic that installed the blower ran it at max RPM for about 30 seconds to make sure it was working OK. After that, he said he'd better check the auger reduction gearbox oil. It was empty. The thing that worries me is that there seems to be lots more noise than I'd expect when I run it, and I'm concerned that the gearbox may have been damaged when run dry, even for only 30 seconds or so.

Pictures sure work well here. I can't figure a way to send a sound to see if other BX2750s are as noisy. Any comments will be helpful.

Thanks again

There is a fair amount of noise from the blower. Remember that you have two universal joints and their plastic shields, two drive shafts ( add two more universal joints) an impeller, auger and some chain moving when you engage the blower.

I would document the dry running just in case there is a warranty problem.

The best thing you can do for the blower is to use bar oil on the chains every four hours and grease the auger shaft as specified in the manual.

You might want to get a hand full of shear bolts. The impeller and the auger use different sizes (just to make life interesting).
Once you get thru the initial problems you will be pleased at the operation of the blower.....watch the rocks and small kids!

Sandyc,

Thanks for the answer. I cannot tell for certain, but it looks to me like the right side wedge on your tractor has the problem I was asking about. The sloping part of the wedge should rest on top of the tractor frame. It looks like yours is behind the frame, like mine was, and that the downward force is taken by the bolt where it passes over the frame.

Hope it's not so.
