I plan to purchase a compact tractor within the next month. So far, I've looked at Mahindra, Cub/Yanmar, and Kubota---all have dealers within 15 miles. I'm leaning toward a Kubota B Series (maybe a 26) with a FEL or the BX25 and then I'd rent a hoe maybe once a year when I need it. One of the reasons for my purchase is to maintain a 1/3 mile long gravel driveway. Some of it is steep. The problem with my ATV and plow is that after 2 snowfalls, I run out of room to push it. I can only push it so high with the ATV. I'm in northcentral PA and we can really get some snow sometimes. At least for now, I've ruled out a snowblower due to cost and advice from dealers that the snowblower will be chewing up shearpins on the gravel. I'm on the north side of the mountain and the driveway doesn't melt so I like the idea of a blade to get it down to the bone. With the SB, I'd have to leave an inch or more of snow, which would pack and quickly become ice.
The BXPanded bucket expander is a lot cheaper than their snowplow. I doubt I'd use the expander for anything other than snow removal. Their plow would allow me to pile the snow up a lot higher and I guess I could use the OEM bucket to do any scooping if I start running out of room to pile the snow.
Any recommendations between these two BXPanded attachments (or other suggestions)? I see now that they don't make attachments for the B-Series; only the BX (duh). Is the B-Series bucket that much bigger than the BX?

Using a bucket for snow removal, especially on a BX sized tractor, is going to be very slow. Even on my Grand L40 using the bucket for snow clearing takes a while. A plow/blade is the fastest but you need a place to push the snow. A snowblower would get it away from the road but is slower and not very friendly on gravel or stone driveways. I would go the blade route and then you still have the bucket for moving back banks when needed.

Harry, get moving on the B-Series!;)
Do you have any videos of your plow moving snow and piling it up? I saw the one showing how easy it is to attach---looks like a nice product and a tractor would have a lot more balls for plowing than my Bombardier 400.

The reason why you run out of room to push snow with atv is because of limited up travel. When pushing snow to a bank, you should be making a ramp. Over time the snow ramp becomes packed down, you can literally push snow up the bank and over. I did that with my el cheapo tractor and fixed plywood blade for one season. Now I have a truck plow mounted on my FEL arms and I can push snow up the back and over if needed. Oh this was done with a BX.

I'm in your boat too OP. I'm farther NW of you, but same situation. Limited room to push snow. The main drive which is scary steep in the winter is about 250yds, and my winter drive is about 1/4 mile. I have a scut and it does the job, but can take a while. Currently I'm just using the bucket and a 5' RB. I can get it scraped real close with the blade and push the bank over with the bucket. The past two summers I've been working on widening my drive to give me more room to plow before I need to start shoving snow banks I've been considering the bxpanded blade as well because I can't live without the bucket during the winter. Actually the biggest issue I have is the snow piles up rather fast against the main beam of the RB if it's much deeper than 3-4", which causes the snow to pile up on the blade.
