BXpanded underarmour vs Bro-Tek skid plate

I have the Bxpanded and it works well for me. Easy on/off. You would probably get more protection with the Bro-Tek, however, I'm in the woods once a month and have had no problems with the BXP.

I really lik Bxpanded stuff but prefer Bro Tek skid plates as I lost a fan on our BX2200 with the MMM on and you have to take the Bxpanded off to mount the MMM.

I'd like to ask what is involved in taking the Bro-Tek back skid plate off to service, clean, inspect the rear area. How often would one have to take it off for these purposes? It's nice it can be left on when using the MMM. There does not seem to be lot of room for handling the drive shaft / mid-PTO coupler though. I just got my BX2660 in August. The one time I took the deck off I found it cumbersome to reconnect the drive shaft/coupler to the PTO (even without this plate on). In fact I ultimately separated the deck drive shaft, put the coupler on to the pto, and then matched and rejoined the deck drive shaft. Maybe I just need to learn more about how to perform this process.
Anyway if some one would describe or comment on what the effort and time to get the Bro-Tek plates off would be I'd appreciate it.

Hello Triple R, first I want to say I find your posts to be very helpful. As I am looking at buying a skid plate and I am leaning to the BXpanded version because of its ease of mounting/dismounting and protection (when on) I appreciate your post on the Bro-Tek plates. I have a 2010 BX2660, and at some point Kubota had "improved" the factory supplied skid plate. My question is did you have an early version of the factory installed skid plate at the time you lost the HST fan to the stick, while having the mmm on? Maybe the newer version with the mmm mounted provides adequate safety for the underbelly, except in maybe the woods? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

I have multiple accessories from both BroTek and BXpanded. I have the Piranha tootbar, the FEL hooks, and the BH dolly from BXpanded. I have the wheel spacers and Rear and Mid skid plates from BroTek. Both companies' product quality and customer service has been first class from my experience. I opted for the Brotek based on researching how simple it installs and that was easy. You do not have to remove the plates completely to service the underside. You can remove a couple bolts and let the back ends of each plate swivel down. It took a little jostling to get the plates lined back up and bolts secured after servicing the tranny but I like how they fit around equipment. I don't have experience with how exactly the BXpanded plate installs but I am very happy about the protection the BroTek plates give. Maybe someone can chime in about servicing with BXpanded plate installed.

I just replaced my HST filter and have the BXpanded plate. 1.Pull the MMMpins and the plate drops down. 2.Change the filter. 3.Hook the plate onto the mounted bolts, lift it in place and pull the pins again. That's about it. "Even a caveman can do it."
