Direcway is OK. If its all you can get. I live so far out that my dialup was only 19.2k. So Direcway was a big improvement.

But now I am getting dsl. And I live WAY out. I can hardly believe it.

Same thing here. We used DirecWay for 2 years before DSL came to the area then we made the switch. Sometimes I now surf the Internet when it's pouring rain outside just cause I can. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good for you.
In about two weeks I will be unplugged from cable modem speeds.

Sad part is I am only moving about 10 miles away. Probably much less as the crow flies.

And to think Asian country's are kicking our butts getting their citizens on broadband and IPv6. Sigh..... I am going to miss it.
My kids will miss it more, the internet was such a great tool for school use.

They don't even run cable to my farm, let alone DSL.
Cable stops about a mile down the ridge. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
There's 2 wires on the pole and that's it.

The last I knew you had to be within 3 miles or so of a telephone substation to get DSL. Has it changed? Direcway here too. My main hope has been for the powerline technology to get up to speed.

3 miles from the CO or a "repeater" (not sure of the real name) I guess if they have fiber out to some point they can add a "substation" If there is a big subdivision or industrial area thay are likely to have this. My road just happened to get all new lines and we lucked out...

rockyridgefarm - you mean a pg hut. CO- talk for pair-gain. Yes, it's a version of a repeater.

The web site dslreports.com has a "Find" broadband provider for an address. This is where I located my wired DSL sub-station, only to find out the phone company is not interested in my direction.

You may have luck pestering them this way.

Well, My DSL is in. I get about 307/386 Now, I live "WAAAY out, so I was a little surprised to get that good a signal. ( also, I am using a discarded sbc modem that is crippled, a better modem might do a better job.)

With Direcway, i could not log onto my servers at work, now I can without any issues at all.
