Do you need the D batteries but only have C batteries available in your house?
And living in a rural area that caused you to drive a long way to get it?
Here is a solution 😉😉

Do you know that many of the D-cell batteries are really C-cells packed in a D-cell can. This is how those off-brand and some of the name brands get away charging you more and giving only C-cell performance.

Here is an example. aka brand called Maxwell . . .

Some are worse than others, This D-cell is really a low ended AAA-cell type inside,

And you want to see how cheap this one is made?

I used to use D cells in several flashlights we owned. Because I've bought so many DeWalt 20V max flashlights and virtually all of our other uses (especially children toys) are rechargeable AA and AAA our D cells just sat.
We raised 4 children and they went through a LOT of batteries.
Now on the rare occasion I need a battery to fit a D-cell slot I use the adapters like they used to put in with the rechargeables. The batteries don't last as long but I've got 2 of those "Battery Daddy" cases full of AA's and AAA's.

@bmaverick I'm not disputing off brand battery quality, but that last image is for an A23 battery, which needs that stack of internal cells to get to its rated voltage, 12V.

All the best,

Peter

Let me get this right.

I'm stranded in a remote location, far from any source of D cells, but, I happen to have some PVC pipe and a spring just the right dimensions.

OK, Wow, just freaking WOW!

Just imagine what you could do with a potato, a couple of pennies some wire and some galvanized nails...

Living in the country is challenging.
If plumbing, electrical problems, mechanical problems, carpenter works, etc arise, it is very hard to hire the guy to fix.
They are not willing to do it because it is time consuming for them.
Or charged a lot more than usual that I can't afford.
So, I have to deal with the most problems by myself.
Following is an example.😅😅
