Tractor
Ford 1910 with loader
Hi I am new and I recently bought a 1985 Ford 1910 tractor with a Sims cab on it. I was planning to do some snow removal with this tractor soon and wanted to make my own cab heater using an automotive heater core. What is the best way to hook this up to the coolant system? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Tyler

Good morning C2000
I have done this several times over the years and recently installed a heater in both of my Curtis cabs. What you want to do is route the inlet of you heater core to the outlet side of your engine thermostat. If you do not have a pipe plug at your thermostat housing, then find a coolant port on the cylinder Head and run a 1/2" or 5/8" hose to the heater. The return hose from your cab heater needs to be run to the inlet of the engine water pump. Hopefully you will have pipe plug near the water pump inlet. If not, you can purchase a T or Y hose connector to install in the lower radiator to water pump hose. This connection will provide positive coolant flow through your cab heater core.
Good luck with this...

I installed this heater in my cab heater coil.JPG tapped into the bypass hose by pass hose.JPG installed a 4" 12v fan behind the core. Keeps the cab 40 dg warmer than the outside temp. Had the core, fan an switch hose $20.00 total.

Nice picture jb62901, you have a nice shot of the thermostat housing.
What type of coolant hose did you install, I've not seen this around my neck of the woods.
C2000, I've never posted a picture on TBN yet, but I can if you think a shot of my hose routing (on Kubota though), might help.
