I am considering the purchase of a 2004 Cadet 8404 wuth FEL and BH that has 500 hrs on it and cannot find any information on it.If anyone owns one or knows about the reliability and availability of parts ect. I would greatly appreciate the info.I will be using it for a 120 ac weekend place so it will not be used heavily. Thanks

A good solid machine. The 8000 series were top of the compact line from 04-07. I believe 04 was the only year the 8404 was produced. It has the Mitsubishi engine which is an excellent engine....I have one in my 7532 and love it. I sold several of the 644 backhoes which your machine most likely has attached to it, a very rugged hoe. The loader should be a 640, also very sturdy. I have all the specs if you need any further info.
Parts should not be a problem, I just ordered some parts for a 7530 backhoe (same era) that came pretty quickly.
I'd be curious to know what they're asking for the machine?

Thank you for the reply I would be interested in any spec's you have and where to get parts.I went to Cadet online and the model doesn't show up so it would be nice to know where to get parts for the tractor,FEL and BH.Will the FEL pick up 4 x 5 round bales I think they weigh between 1,500 an 1,800 Lbs.They are asking 17K for it. After reviewing my info (I've got the 2004/5/6/7 Cub Compact brochures, and a blue book) I've got some controversial info however....the Cub brochure says it's a 41 HP Daedong 4 cylinder engine, the equipment blue book says it's a Mitsubishi 3 cylinder engine...I always thought the 8000's had the Daedong. The daedongs were used in some other tractors, I'm unsure if mahindra/Kioti, I think Kioti but not positive. Both great engines. Guess you could tell from the # of cylinders...
The specs for the loader are not in the 2004 brochure I have. The 2005 lists the 640 loader as 1350lbs to full loader height of 103.5".....but that's for the 8354, a 35 HP machine. The 642 loader, used for the 8454 (45HP), lists 2100 lbs to a height of 11.4". Sooooo.....perhaps interpolate for the extra HP, put you somewhere in the 1700 lb range. My 633 loader on my 7532 is rated for 900 lb, but I've picked up 1000+ very easily up to around 6'.
You'd have to call Cub for the parts, might not be a bad idea to call 2 or 3 dealers in your area to check on parts availability. I never trust 1 opinion....
Since Cub went with Yanmar in 08, you won't find the parts list on their main website. You should still be able to download manuals online, though....I've downloaded manuals for numerous models.

Unsure, but it sounds like an aftermarket hoe. The 644 is a Cub hoe, says Cub Cadet and 644 all over it, same yellow color. If it's something else, I cannot render an opinion! Got any pics?

I have not seen the tractor in person yet but the hoe is the same color maybe they mean QC = Quick connect.Someone posted this is a 40 hp tractor but the seller shows 55hp.Is it a 55hp? if its 40hp I can get a New Holland TC 40 450 hrs with brush hog, post hole digger and BB for under 15K but I wanted something close to 50hp or more.

Thanks for all the help.Since its a 41hp I have a question The 2004 Cadet 8404 is about 17K and in another state so I will have to go pick it up or pay for del. There is a Branson 4720 with 67 hrs close to my place for 16,500 w/o the backhoe.If I want the hoe and buy one later I would spend another 4k so would it be worth the extra money for the 4720?
