Got a survey recently and completed it,ret'd to N.H. and they called about my comments.I must have said something as I was frustrated and not happy. When I bought the tractor had 50 hrs on it and I was told new filters and fluids(not done)when asked about it dealer said just buy the filters and do it yourself ?and the tractor has an anti-freeze leak that wont go away. small isues yes, but I bought the tractor new and I wnat it right. I am sure my dealer thinks I am a pain, just wait til this surfaces ??any others had this response from N.H. ? Thanks , LLoyd

Lloyd,

50 hours is suppose to be the first maintenance on that tractor according to my dealer. That is when he told me he wanted mine back so he could do the maintenance. Your dealer should not have put that tractor back on the lot to sell without doing the 50 hour maintenance. This is where I always say when buying, make sure you trust the dealer. No matter how good the tractor is, it is not good without the dealer. Maybe you should post the dealers name, if your allowed to so that every here knows who he is. The money is not much to do the maintenance and he made good money on you on the purchase. If your somewhat mechanical go back to him and tell him to suppy the supplies and you would supply the labor. If not find yourself another dealer.

In truth the dealer has a good rep, I am just not getting the level of service I anticipated. When I got it I was assured the filters were changed and they were not, I am disappointed that they did not offer to give me the parts,I am very mechanically inclined, point is they sadi they would and then didn't. I am trying to work with them -

One of the nice things my dealer does is write the date and hours on the filter when they change them.

HI Mike: thanks for the reply. The thing that gets me is the tracotr had approx 70 hrs when I Itook delivery,it should have been serviced not just topped off the fluids and sent on its way-I like the dealer juts want to be treated a little better-maybe I expect too much. Have owned many tractors this is the first new one and expected alot-so far ...????????

Lloyd,

I agree with you, they said they did but didn't. If your mechanically inclined I would just do it myself and then from now on I would go elsewhere to buy parts and misc items. I would also let them know that they screwed up and lost your business. Let them also know that when someone inquire's about them that you will tell them exactly!!

Business's like that you can fight with them all day and not get any where.

First of all if a salesman promised these thing and they where not done I would go rite to the owner, if your salesman was the owner I guess you are out off luck, except for maybe sending him a letter and explaining how upset you are about the whole thing. Maybe this will be taken more seriously. good luck!

2 quick points

1. I don't think you are expecting too much. I took my truck into a dealer for about $1000 worth of work (new tires, complete tune-up, tranny fluid change, etc.) When I got it back, the service sheet said all fluids were topped off. I drive less than a mile down the road and need windshield fluid--the tank is empty. I called my service guy back and let him know that this is a big issue. It's not the $1.49 worth of fluid--it's the fact that the mechanic checked a sheet saying he topped off the fluid. What other things did he check that he didn't do? The devil is in the details.

2. Talking to owners of companies. It has worked well for me. When I purchased my new JD I worked with the sales manager at the dealership. I was not real impressed, but I stuck with the dealer as they were close and did the whole drop off/pick up thing. The purchase was in July of 02. Fast forward to January of O3--because of posts I had seen on TBN regarding rebates, I send a note to the owner with a copy of my purchase receipt and a couple of quesitons about why I did not get a rebate. The owner looked into it, found out I was due a rebate and mailed me a check for $1200. Often times the owners don't know what's going on unless you bring them into the fold.

Just my $.02.

Good Luck
